Its a crazy thought but ya know maybe your neighbor shouldn't have his dog wandering around and it would prevent these things

so he needs to be chained up inside their fence?

so he went speak with entergy this morning. they apologized, wrote the meter reader up as not following protocol (he admitted he saw the dog before entering the gate but did not call or knock on door) and gave my neighbor a free month of his choosing, expiring next november.

he's content with that, and the dog's eyes are still watery but nothing major.

I'd probably just be a dick to the meter reader if I could next time he drove up.

Ask him a bunch of questions, make him late, run behind. Basically, just act as an irritant just as the pepper spray did to the dog.

Nothing to be done in court or from the company. Lately dogs have been getting a bad rap...so it's all about public perception. And it sucks.

Walked around a corner to see where my dog was taking a leak and saw one of them dudes shaking his pepper spray to get it ready. I told my dog to heel which he immediately did then proceeded to trade choice words with guy. It ended with me telling him it'd be the last mistake he'd ever have to worry about. I lost my cool that day.

Tell your neighbor the next time the energy guy comes over to taze him and say he scared him and he felt threatened. I mean how was he supposed to know since the guy came in unannounced? I bet that fricker would get a new route.

I'm not saying what the Entergy guy did was right, however, my dad has worked and read meters for an energy provider for 30 years and has been bitten several times. Can you guess what every dog owner says before he steps in their yard to read the meter? He doesn't have to do that any more now that they have the electronic meters that send the readings to them electronically. Human life and protecting oneself from injury is more important than temporary discomfort for a dog, period.
