Got my first handguns at 8.

Kind of hard to shoot field rats off a tractor with a long gun.

Negatives of doing this:
-Glock will be on at least Gen 7 by the time the 4yr old is 18
Positives
-There will be barely any difference in performance

FYI, Glocks shouldn't go up too much in price any time soon. When it costs less than $100, they have plenty of wiggle room even after adding import fees, taxes, etc.

These days Glock GmbH has an estimated $100 million in sales, two-thirds of it from the trigger-happy United States. A gun that retails for $500 can be manufactured for $75, and the company has a pretax margin nearing 60%, estimates John Farnam of Defense Training International, a LaPorte, Colorado, small arms instructor.

Put $500 for each in a MF or MM acct and then when they are old enough buy what fits them

I prefer 3rd Gens because that is what I have.
Not that it really matters. Not like I’m going to start interchanging parts and all.
But the gen3 is the most time tested of the bunch.
Now let’s talk about palmetto daggers

Take that $2,000, put it in mutual funds when the market bottoms out in a few weeks, and let them use the rebound to buy their own pistol when you think they are responsible enough to handle it.

If you have the money, go ahead and get them. We never know if they will be legal to purchase in the future, the price or the availability. Also, stock up on ammo now to last your grandchildren.

Glock will have to do something revolutionary (for them) in order for their pricing to shoot up. I dont see them straying from their current model.

Besides, leather holsters get expensive fast, and they have always had a long wait time.
What holsters do you run? Been using Kusiak on my last couple of purchases.

Bought my 19 Gen 4 in 2011. It was around $500.
