Our family camping trip went well last weekend, so it looks like this may be something we do more often. Anyone have any recommendations for a cot? My back thanks you in advance.

How about portable heaters?

I got one from cabelas. Not sure brand. I'll be getting the camping stuff out early next week for a trip. I'll let you know. I highly recommend a cot much better than air matters for me. It can get CIO in the winter but I bring an extra sleeping bag for laying on to keep cold air from underneath.

Edit - I have a portable Colman heater. Doesn't help much in our tent. I think a tent more geared for cold weather would e better. IMO

I've got a couple cots that came from Basspro. Dont remember the brand. Just whatever was cheap. I usually use the air mattress though.

I would (almost) be embarrased to show up anywhere in that thing.

Cots take up a lot of space. I use a raised queen size air mattress when camping with the family and this pad when by myself.

I don't have any heaters. Just a fire, quality warm clothes and an excellent sleeping bag.

No idea. I think we paid just under $10K for our first camper, but it was a hybrid. Hard sides with fold out beds. Moved to a 5th wheel when we figured out we liked camping and knew we would need more room.

Pop ups are a lot of fun. They have their drawbacks, but I loved mine.

I was mostly joking, but I saw a few where deacon was camped. One really close to his site. Lots of people boondock in that primitive area with small campers. Some use generators. Others just batteries.

Inflatable matress is the way to go. I don't like using heaters inside an inclosed tent. Just not a good idea. Get a good sleeping bag rated for low temperatures and keep your clothes on when you go to bed (sorry no hanky panky )

Inflatable matresses are just not comfortable for me. Been there done that. Gonna try a cot.

Not really looking to put the portable heater in the tent, just want to have one handy in case we can't build a fire. (Burn ban last weekend)

Was just joking about the pop up. May look into something like that at some point.

I have a couple of the Mr Heaters.

I really like them when it's cold in the pit.

I've also had to use them when our electricity was out for a day or two and very cold. They would easily warm up a decent size room in the house.

Those pop ups are not much different than a tent, outside the restrictions placed by geography. I wouldn't mind having one myself.

I have wanted one for the winter time so I can take my kids out more.

Yeah, doing a road trip up north next September and thinking about getting one. Hell, I know a guy who lived in one for 3 months when his wife kicked him out of the house.

I could do it. Not a biggie for me. Would be an experience to remember, that's what I'm about.

I have seen some decent ones that weren't very expensive on craigslist. As long as the heater and it was clean I would be happy with it.

I hear the axles on them do not last long, so I would check them on a used one.
