It’s not the rings, it’s the lifters and lifter galley.

+1 to what Weagle said.

If you get the system turned off electronically I imagine it’ll lower oil consumption considerably. But then again mine hasn’t ever consumed oil even when my AFM was active.

To the OP, if you installed a delete kit and got a tune I bet that motor would run forever.

I'm going to check out the Range AFM disable device. I'll report back.

I haven't looked into the specifics, but doesn't a program tell the computer to shut off the AFM lubrication system completely, and oil everything instead?

I know that the motor never goes into V4 mode so that's possible.

But the full delete kit would cover all those bases and set you up for success. Just whether or not you make the $600 investment to buy it.

I have a 2014 an that thing drinks oil..... after 7500 miles with synthetic, its down amost 2 quarts. I have to add to make it to 10,000 miles without the low oil light coming on. Im not happy with the truck.

Had a 99 & 04, both were anemic in the torque department. CAFE can be blamed for all of the voodoo the mfgr’s dream up. AFM was a disaster the first time it was rolled out in the early 80’s so GM thought they would fix it and sell it again.

I have a 2010 Sierra and my truck burns about 2 quarts of oil every 4000 miles.

Same thing happened to me on a 2014. Plus the fuel injection system went out.
