Should I buy it--Springfield XD40 Subcompact

Let me preface this by saying I currently have a Springfield XDM .40 (4" carry size), a Sig 2022 9mm(also 4" carry size), and a Ruger LCP. I have been planning on getting my CCL forever but always forget about it or put it off for some reason. I do plan on getting one sooner or later.
My buddy told me last night his wife doesn't know he bought his pistol back from the guy he sold it to and he now wants to sell it before she finds out. I don't understand it, but this could be an opportunity for me or someone else to buy it. He said he wants $400.00 for it but would sell it to me for $350.00. It comes with all the oem stuff(box, lock, 2 standard mags, etc.) and he also has an in-the-waist holster for it and an extended mag. My feelings are I don't really need it per se, but it could be a nice gun to carry when I do instead of the LCP. Should I, or would you if you were me, buy it?

Is the guy going to come back to you in a few months and want to buy it back again? If not, I say go for it. I would buy it but I would also let the guy know that this time all sales are final. You should be able to judge his reaction to that to see if he is having any seller's remorse before he actually sells you the gun.
Of course I generally encourage people to buy more guns whenever given the chance.

Price seems good, so go for it. I'm not an XD fan though

Buy it. Ill send you a link for the Bill of Sale I have been using for face to face transactions.
If the guy wants it back later, tell him to F-off. It's not like you're a kid buying Lego's from your buddy. It's a damn firearm.

You mean you wouldn't change your name to SpringfieldXD?
B, I will tell him all sales are final but I don't know that I want to do a bill of sale. I don't like paper trails when they aren't required.

I have one on my hip in the deer stand as I speak. It's a fine gun and shoots well. I've had several glock fans shoot it and were surprised on how well it felt in their hands.

Read the OP one more time, the original buyer returned the gun, the seller wants to sell it before his wife finds out. Doesn't sound like sellers remorse at all to me.

He had said gun. Sold it to a guy he knows. Not sure if they guy wanted to sell it back or if my friend asked to buy it back, but he ended up buying it back from the guy because he regretted selling it. For some strange reason, he hasn't told his wife he bought it back and has it. Not sure if she doesn't like guns or what. I do know she's and aggie who voted for Obama though. Thought that was an oxymoron. So, he now says he never uses it and doesn't want her to find out he has it again and wants to sell it. I don't think he would come back to me trying to buy it back though. Even though he has never hunted a day in his life that I am aware of, he wants to use whatever money gets for to put towards a bow, so he can start bow hunting even though he doesn't have anywhere to hunt or ever shot a bow for that matter.
ETA: Thank you for the advice fellas.

I hate the .40 it doesn't penetrate enough and is a very poorly designed round. 9mm and 45ACP are the way to go. Or you can just man up and get a 10mm

You read it one more time. This will be second time he has sold the same gun.

You're right, I read it as the guy wanted to return the gun/get his money back. Not the other way around, my bad.

Can you afford if?
If yes, buy.

I can afford it but my wife may kill me for buying another gun I don't need.

Meh, I wouldn't buy it. Buy $350 worth of ammo and go blast some shite with the guns you already have.
