Sure wouldn't, and I have no desire to do that.

If I didnt have any respect for the outdoors then I would shoot deer at night, take off of other peoples property, catch over my limit of fish, kill over my limit in ducks, etc....all which are illegal AND MORALLY AND ETHIACLLY wrong.
It's borderline. I mean there's no sport in shooting a deer at point blank range when it has no chance to get away. But I am not the moral police and have seen far worse done by so-called "sportsmen".

Why would ethics have anything to do with laws of shooting deer in water? It's illegal because shooting a rifle over water is extremely dangerous. Due to the fact that bullets could ricochet for long distances in unplanned directions. This thread is ridiculous.

yes I knew it was illegal,

Then why did you feel the need to come on here and ask us if an action, that you knew was illegal, was illegal?

Are you trying to brag that you did this?

this is what I was thinking too. Oh well, we had a shitty duck hunt that morning and I had some built up frustration, this deer was in the wrong place at the wrong time. If I would killed my limit of ducks I probably would have let him swim away, but I wasn't going back to my camp without any meat.

you sound like quite the sportsman... ahhhh....

the exact type of "hunter" that is going to get all hunting banned...what a piece of shite...go eat your meat

I don't really give a shite what you are going to do with the meat. There is no sport in shooting a swimming deer. To elaborate on the ethics of the situation, I don't shoot ducks off the water or spotlight deer at night because I feel that that is ethically fricked up. Shooting a swimming deer is also ethically fricked up. You are telling me that at no point during the development of this situation did you think "is this the right thing to do?".

Aside from the ethical implication, you knew it was illegal and did it anyway. Why? Because you were frustrated from a shitty hunt? Give me a break. Your argument that some other pieces of shite shoot buffalo point blank doesn't have anything to do with your situation. Then you come on here to basically brag about it, people don't agree with you so you call us all hippies and tree huggers.

You are right man. I don't know you, but from your rendition of the events it doesn't really seem like you have a whole lot of respect when you illegally and unethically take a deer. Just calling a spade a spade.

how the frick is shooting a deer that is swimming any different that shooting a deer that is relaxing while eating corn? both are defenseless, STFU

The deers defenses are it's senses and speed. In this case, it didn't matter what the frick you did, it couldn't go anywhere. On the other hand, if a deer is eating at a feeder it can still hear you or smell you and run. This deer knew you were there when OP drove his boat right up to it and couldn't do anything but keep swimming. You can't honestly tell me that you don't think that is ethically fricked up in the least. Regardless of OPs ethical fiber, you have to admit that there is no sport in that kill.

Shooting a deer with your expensive gun with scope sitting in a tree where you have already placed "bait" for the deer.... Sounds like one hell of a "sport"
