to the people going to Elmers, I went last saturday. Be prepared to climb over 2 feet of seaweed to get into the water. It does look similar to the pics except sting rays everywhere. They were coming out of the water like blue marlins chasing matrix shad.

Mother fricking sand flea city. Someone called to tell me about the seaweed today, lol. First weekend I get in a while too.

I was told the charter boats are to blame for the abundance of sharks. Supposedly with the shortened snapper season, they are limiting out, hauling tail back in to get another charter group, and cleaning the fish along the way back.

Again, "supposedly" them cleaning the fish and throwing the rest over board is drawing them in.

That was the excuse during federal season. Now that it's over I'm sure it'll be global warming or fracking or some other bullshite liberal excuse.

Black tips are really fun to catch too they will tail walk and go airborne on you in a minute. A good 100-150 pounder will wear you out.

you're thinking of spinner sharks

they look almost exactly like black tips, only slight differences and they REALLY like to go airborne

i've never got a spinner shark that hasn't put on a big aerial display and I rarely catch black tips that do put on aerials

almost positive this is false and illegal. pretty sure in florida you are not allowed to clean fish while on water. you have to be at the dock.

Alas Texas Tiger but I in fact no the difference between spinner sharks and blsck tips. I didnt say they jumped out of the water and twisted around like a tarpon, just that they would go airborne. Not all the way like a spinner but about half way out like a hump back or like they are about to jump in the damn boat. In my little 21 foot center console they would do this all the time as you were reeling them in and scare the hell out of me all the time. This was usually in about 10-70 foot of water. Why they don't do that for you not sure, must be professional courtesy for me or something. That is why I use to cut them off for years before I starting keeping a few.

In a weird side not my wife and daughter were wading about 20 yards out on about 3 foot of water in Ft lauderdale few weeks back and a six foot shark gave them a drive by. Came withing 2 foot of them faat. Scared the hell out of them. I tried to convince them it was a cobia, when a guy grabbed them at the pool, and said "Man that shark went right by you didn't it. I was scared for you"
