Time to go through the bullshite 9 hour recertification to renew my permit. Any recommendations for instructors in the Mandeville/Covington area? I'm not from here and all my relatives are anti-gun liberals. I don't want to drive to Slidell. I know how to shoot and just need a baw who will be easy to work with.

TIA.

ETA: the LA process is basically that of a blue state. Expensive, time consuming, long delays, irrelevant and intrusive questions. I haven't done this in 5 years and forgot about how frustrating the money grab is. frick you, JBE, for killing constitutional carry and frick the republican legislature for not overriding the veto.

I recently let mine lapse. Partly bc I was pissed at my spineless elected officials and their money grab, also partly bc I’m always drinking when me and the wife are out and can’t carry anyway

I think bearco has an online class and then you just go shoot.

Dont quote me on that though.

I’m sure all these suggestions are great. I’ll throw in my experience. F.I.T.S. in Slidell really puts on a great class. Staff is super friendly, breakfast and lunch served (donuts and Popeyes when I went!) and range is there for shooting portion. Highly recommended. If you sign up at a gun show they offer a discount. I imagine if you call and ask for the gun show price they’d honor it.

Bearco does have a online course. I just recently did it. Once you complete the course you schedule a date to go shoot and that's it. I did the application all electronically and went to Baton Rouge to get fingerprinted. Permit came in mail in less than 2 weeks.

Dennis did my original class. Great guy, relaxed setting at his house, easy process.

I heard a while back he was dealing with some serious health issues.

TNT concealed carry in Robert. Dane Thomas is a great guy/instructor. I know back when I did my original class the renewal people just showed up when it was time to shoot and then left. I don't think you can do that anymore though.
