Bearco does have a online course. I just recently did it. Once you complete the course you schedule a date to go shoot and that's it. I did the application all electronically and went to Baton Rouge to get fingerprinted. Permit came in mail in less than 2 weeks.
"Ed Drivon, wouldn't consider anyone else. Decades of experience and knows his busness!"

Agree....My parents have used him for years. He has always been honest.

I owned the FeelFree Lure II Tandem for a couple years. My son and I fished out of it. It is actually what got me into kayak fishing. I have since sold it now that my son is old enough to fish on his own. He uses a Compass now.

Personally I had no issues at all with the Tandem. It tracked well and the seats are very comfortable. The built in wheel in the keel was very convenient. I never put a rudder on it or the pedal drive that you can put in it. I just paddled it. In short I was happy with it.

Bought one this past April. The SR5 4X4 TSS, 20 inch wheels, leather...I like the interior room of the Crew cab. Although at times I regret the lack of bed space. Other than that I Love it so far. Sticker was 51K, I paid 45k. That was at the beginning of all this Covid stuff.

Planning on going Tuesday also. How is the travel situation down there? I would be driving in from the Northshore. Are any roads closed? Will I be able to make it?

I used C&C Smokehouse last year and was very happy with them. A little more expensive than most others but it was very good smoked sausage
I have been deal with Archery and Fishing Unlimited in Hammond for 15 years or so. I have been very happy with the service there.

Private property in Fourchon

Posted by st3dnut on 8/3/20 at 5:01 pm
Was considering attempting to launch kayak at public launch in Fourchon in order to access beach from backside to wade fish that end of the island. Yellow in pic shows the route I was thinking. Does anyone know if I would be violating anyone’s private property if I did so? I’m not even sure if it’s doable. But if I’m not breaking any laws I’m thinking I may give it a try.

“Don’t know about Henderson but everyone’s been slaying the sacs further south in the spillways with popsicle jigs.“

You would have to educate a novice. For the most part all I’ve ever fished is inshore saltwater. I’m definitely still trying to learn the basin and how to catch crappie in general. The only placed I’ve fished in that area is Lake Pelba.

Looking for a place to get crickets and shiners tommorrow morning. Somewhere reasonably close to interstate 12 if possible Between Covington and the Henderson public boat launch by the Atchafalaya welcome center. Any help would be appreciated.

Kayak Sac-a-lait fishing

Posted by st3dnut on 7/6/20 at 8:15 am
My son and I have gotten into kayak fishing and have been doing lots of inshore trout and redfish fishing. He has been asking about fishing for sac-a-lait. I know nothing about it other than information I have found online. Obviously not asking for anyone to tell me exactly where to go but any advice on where we could launch kayaks within a couple of hours of the northshore where we may could find some fish so we can start learning how to fish them would be appreciated.

Haven’t seen one in a few years but have seen 2 in the past week. One at my parents house in Madisonville and one at my house in Bush.

re: Bringing deer in from another state

I decided to call La DWF...no part of spinal column or brain matter can be brought into Louisiana. Leg quarters with bone are fine.

I hunted in Illinois so therefore I obviously had to drive through a number of states to get home. I think Mississippi has a somewhat more strict requirement depending on where it was killed. So I guess I would need to know and follow the laws of each state you transport the carcass through. In case you happen to get stopped/checked in any of those states.

Trying to get clarification on exactly what you need to do to bring meat/skull into Louisiana from out of state. From what I read if I understand correctly you cannot bring back any part of the vertebrae and you must removed brain material from a skull. I’ve had a couple friends tell me that you can’t bring any bone. That I need to de-bone the animal completely and if you want to bring horns back that I would need to cut horns off of skull. Can someone share some experience/knowledge about this? Thx in advance

"A couple weekends ago we fished the marsh between grand isle and Leeville and then fished the marsh near Fourchon and destroyed the reds. They were thick in numbers and caught zero rats."

Assuming you are talking about that marsh east of the bridge and north of Hwy 1?

I look at that marsh every time I go down. I have thought to myself that it looks like there should be redfish in there. Think I'm going to take your advice and give it a whirl.

As the title says...have a chance to bring my son fishing this wknd. Was thinking of trying the marsh behind Elmers for reds or maybe the bay behind the island...any reports or advice?
Very similar yes. Just doesn't have a half moon or cam that you rotate off of. It uses a spring. If your holding weight after let off is say 17lbs, you set the spring tension at 18. It really is not much different than back tension but for some reason I am able to shoot more consistently with it.
