Scrap metal question

How much is carbon steel going for these days? I'm currently on a job and we are inspecting a bunch of welder tests coming from New Orleans. They want some back, and then they stopped asking for them. So far we have 24 1 1/2" plates which weigh about 80# a piece, and also have a bunch of 24" welds that are 800# a piece. If they don't ask for these back how much could I get? All in all I'd say I have at least 2 tons of metal.

Hell yea, if you got some way to load it and something to transport it in, and make 4-500$ easy

Give that scrap yard in Port Allen a call. I brought them a couple hundred foot of heavy copper tubing and a trailer full of scap metal about 4 years ago when we closed my grandmothers RV park down and I think I got about 400 bucks or so for it.

Is it a single company doing the welding? I'm just curious as my job pertains to finding companies that do a lot of welding. Thanks

SWS the specialty welding contractor arm of Turner?
You wanna know some damn good welders? Aquilex WSI. May not be a big difference in your normal carbon steel welds, but they can weld anything. Specialty SS, monel, bi-metallic...whatever you got. And they get after it...

No they aren't local. They were brought in for a nuke job in New Orleans. I want to say they all are contract welders, but not too sure
