True story.... somewhere.
Two guys are hunting in the woods and for food they shot and killed a spotted owl which was against the law. The game warden pulled up on them as they were cooking the owl on a bbq pit and told them that it was against the law to kill a spotted owl. He arrested them and when they went before the judge, they told the Judge that they were stranded in the woods and hadn't eaten for days so they killed the owl to eat and survive. The judge believed their story and released the men back to society with all charges being dropped because of the Judges' sympathy. When the Judge asked one of the men what the spotted owl taste like, the men both answered; "a little bit like bald eagle." The judge did not laugh.
Yeah, the joke is supposed to be about a couple homeless guys cooking a bald eagle on the beach. After getting grilled by the warden, who decides to let them off, he asks "just out of curiousity, what does eagle taste like?" They guys answer "kind of a mix between a spotted owl and a california condor."

It's a pretty cool when you see them catching a fish
Actually catching a fish or just stealing a fish that an osprey caught? Ha ha.

I see them quite often in the Spillway and in Gibson. Badass birds.

We have them here also....I got to see an eagle/osprey 'disagreement' several weeks ago in Guntersville where the tall towers cross the lake (old Montsano plant). Momma osprey didn't get killed, but the eagle obviously won the argument...nothing like watching an aerial combat in live action.

Lots in CENLA. I see one on almost every trip to Indian Creek or Cleco. I saw one last week at the RR lock/dam in Poland.

Sums up my 3 trips to Grand Isle, and why I'll never go back

I saw three bald eagles flying over northern lake verret a few weeks ago as we were running back to the launch. one of them was circling so low, i could see the bright yellow on his beak. I thought i was gonna get to see him dive down and pick up a fish but he never did.

Years ago there was a bald eagle and nest right next to the highway just north of the Prospect street bridge in Houma. I saw it many times over about a 4 year span.
Here in Colorado I see them quite often. There is a set of 5 lakes on the mountain above Battlement Mesa. Elevation is around 10,000 feet. Only accessible by foot, horseback, ATV, or Jeep. The largest and prettiest lake has a bald eagle that stays there. Pretty awesome because those lakes don't receive much traffic.

quote:There is an eagles nest just as you are coming to the end of the I10 span over the Ponchetrain and into Gretna. Huge nest 300 to 400 yards off on the right in an old cypress tree in the swamp. Not sure if it a Golden or Bald eagle?
