We need a sticky every spring with all the links.

BC doesn't open unless river is forecasted to reach 1.25 m cfs (approximately 17.0 ft) at the Carrollton Gauge in NO. Current 28 day forecast, which can be found here 28 Day Forecast shows it forecasted to reach 16.5'. Future opening is a possibility depending on rain that combines with the spring snow melt.

Further discussion of the Upper Mississippi conditions including snow amounts and the like can be found here Spring Hydrologic Outlook. Couple of statements from that report
quote:

There is a significantly elevated chance of flooding in the Upper Mississippi River drainage area and the Hudson Bay drainage area, particularly along the Red River of the North.

quote:

Overall, the flood potential for this spring is well above normal for the Upper Mississippi River drainage. There is a persistent 50% or greater chance of major flooding along the Mississippi river down to lock and dam 19, and a persistent 50% or greater chance of moderate flooding from lock and dam 19 to St. Louis. We will continue to closely monitor conditions as winter closes and we enter the spring snow melt season. Conditions over the next 4-6 weeks will be key in determining just how the flooding situation will evolve.

Furthermore, the previous OB discussion can be found here Previous TD Thread.

Edit: Trigger for Bonne Carre is actually flow rate, but that flow corresponds to about stage 17. Flow today is around 1.12 m.

Checked in the other day and compared to last year the river is expected to be 8-10ft lower this year obviously could change but that is the latest.

River is going down at my place on the Tenn-Tom waterway. A 40'x20' pier/dock floated in and was left in the yard

Crest was about the same as last February.
