It was, just an old plywood boat
75 johnson with electric choke
A young boy, two hands on the wheel
I cant replace the way it made me feel
And I would turn it shore line, and, make it wide
He'd say, ya can't beat the way an old wood boat rides

I’m still running a 1999 Johnson 115 Ocean Pro. Thing runs like a top!

This my dad’s boat I’ve been using lately. Looking to get a new fuel pump, any recommendations on a website to buy one for an older Johnson? I’m just not sure the exact year

Honda has never supported those motors for some reason, nobody understands
I only see them on Fishing University, and got to say, I'm not a fan of those dudes.

Same with me. As much as I’d like a new motor my old girl has not once left me on the water, except when I tore the lower unit off at the roots. I find myself babying her, she gets cranky and I beat her up some as she’s back. You get a good one, ride. I love my boat so unless I split it in half a repower is the only option

I've a 1991 Evinrude 30 HP 2 stroke that runs just as great today as it was when it was purchased new by my father. Ethanol free gas and Seafoam added to every gallon of fuel. When it dies, I'll either be going with a Yamaha or Tohatsu for its replacement.

I will never own a Mercury, or buy a boat with a Mercury outboard. Never much cared for them. Have always loved the old OMC Johnsons and Evinrudes.

I had 1978 65 hp Evinrude and the man I sold it to still uses it today.

It is a shame OMC had some good years. When everyone went to oil injection they sold the 88 special and the 48 special in the 90’s.
Finding parts for an Evinrude Etec will be as hard as Finding parts for a chrystler outboard in a few years.

because of experience or what somebody told you? I know people that hate on Mercs, OMCs, Fords and Chevies. Others that love them. Lots seem to love a Yamaha, others have said “ better flush that sob or it’ll corrode from the inside out” I don’t know about that. But I’ve heard it

Just curiosity why you feel the way you do. My good friends dad has a 25 Wizard that still runs but it runs for 30 minutes 3-4 times a year, never leaving the barn for the last 20 years. Don’t mean much

You ever fish the Friday night tournaments out of Manchac? Guys at work were talking about it and the payouts. Hard to believe for a 3-4 hour team Sounds like catching the lightning in the bottle might be worth fishing

No, never fished the many tournaments one out of Manchac.
If the payout is right I might look into it.
3 to 4 hours cuts down on the bigger boats running outside of the Maurepas basin
(Amite, Tickfaw, Blind, Ruddock, Reserve Canal.
I have not fished a dog fight also known as an afternoon tournament in along time.

Jack Millers holds a Friday evening tournament that gets averages over 30 boats. $40 entry per boat and payouts for 1st will be over $400.

They said it was like 5- 8:30 on Friday evenings. I’m gonna check into it more. I haven’t fished a shootout either in years but for that cheese without having to practice

These dudes were talking like a 1k, 500 payout with like 80-100 boats. I find that hard to believe
