Stoeger

How much are you going to spend? Just asking because I could mention some auto loaders at the price.

ok gotcha,,,you've had a strange bit of bad luck on the 1187's.. I sorta wore out my old 1100 and the first year the 1187 came out with the fancy chokes, ability to shoot 3" magnums, etc., I immediately went and bought one at KMart. The sistah working the sports department that day mistakenly rang me up for the price of an 870, so I got a real good deal..I can't remember what year they hit the market, but there have been several Remington shells shot through it and never had a problem...

Geauxt – my experience w 1187s is not unique. When I had the prob w/ the gun I assumed it was the shell – the shell manufactures said it was unlikely they asked that I return a sample of the shells to test. The sheels were fine and it was explained that even if the shell were filled only w/ powder it would not cause that prob if the bolt was locked. It was their experience that Rem had an issue w/ the bolt not locking on 1187s. Rem replaced the gun w/o an issue after I sent it to them. Now I fired thousands of rounds out of the gun but I just did not want to chance it again.

Yeah I did not finish my thought after having a failure w/ an 1187 I was a little “gun shy” about them so I talked to competitive trap and skeet shooters and the autoloader that is most popular in those circles (about 8 yrs ago) was the Berreta 391 (urika in hunting models). They fire thousands of rounds per year out of a gun so if anyone will get one to fail they will. So not wanting to chance another problem I switched brands plus the gun fits me well. No issues w/ my 391’s except when it was really cold and the action was open on my 391 – the dog shook in the blind and got water in the action which froze (it was about 0 deg) – the action was stiff until I warmed it up that night (it was a two shooter that day). That problem shouldn’t happen in south LA : )
Seriously having the bolt not lock when a shell goes off was not fun – fortuneately no one was too my right or there may have been bigger issues

But I think the Winchester SX3 is also a great shotgun.

I guess I was talking to a wall when I said this...
