Registering Enduro bike for Dual Sport / Street Legal

Looking at a WR450F and would like to get it plated for occasional in town street use and bouncing between riding spots. Blinker and turn signal kit is an easy retrofit.
Anyone have personal experience registering an "Off Road" vehicle in LA?

No longer allowed in LA.
But you can title it in SD and get a street plate via mail.

I’d call the DMV and see if you can add brake light and turn signals to see if that’ll do it for you.

Something like a Honda 250l/300l is street legal and comes with all the items you need. Be careful with a 450 motorcross bike, it’s going to be a ton of maintenance for everyday use.

Things may have changed at the DMV in LA but when I titled my brand new 2009 Honda CRF450x they kept trying to give me a plate for it and require insurance.
I asked back then what I needed to get a plate and they said a manufacturer's certificate of origin and insurance, that's it. No inspection or anything. Back then I didn't want a plate so I paid taxes and title fees and left.
I suspect nowadays in LA it is linked to a VIN, no VIN, no plate unless a special case or homemade vehicle.
Sorry not much help but that was my experience.

The dmv you were at was staffed by idiots. The MCO for offroad units specifically says OFFROAD USE ONLY.
Louisiana closed the conversion loophole right around 2010. You can get around it by titling for street use in a different state and then transferring it back into louisiana... Because the only thing they see it that's point is a street title.
*source* every side by side I've bought since 2014 has eventually been plated for street use.
It's easier than dealing with local wannabe hard arse cops trying to stop me from driving from the property to the gas station to fuel up.
