You will not regret it. I am slowly switching all my baitcasters over to the LFS. It is my favorite reel for trout/bass fishing.

Yup. Way better than Lew's.

I grabbed the Lews Tournament Pro LFS with the 35" retrieve off of Amazon for 168 the other day. Bought there instead of eBay to get the free Lews jacket.

My two favorite reels are my Curado and my Abu Revo SX. Shimano has the SLX at the $100 price point and it’s a fine reel.

i want to try that chronarch, but all of my old ones are still smooth. I'd have to prematurely retire more.

Definitely Shimano Curado DC Normally, around $250, but you can get it cheaper if you look. Anti-backlash. Casts a mile (not really, but a long way). Best bait caster reel on the market in the $250 price range.

+1

I have one (think I got it at Academy for $79) and it is smooth as butter. Just as good if not better than my four 200e7 Curados.

Any Daiwa with the SV spool. It's amazing.

I have a mid-upper Lews and still have a Citica E. Unless the Daiwa SV isn't durable or lets me down in some way, I won't be buying Lews or Shimano baitcasters any time soon.

Another vote for the Tatula, awesome reels. My preference is the 200 but the 150 will work. Just like the bigger spool and extra line capacity.

The day you want to splurge and want to sling a crank bait clear across the lake, step up to the Ryoga (fricking amazing reel).

Heard this for years.

Took the dive on several Shimano's years back. Chronarch's and Curados. 6 in total. Long story short, my issues with them got all the way to Dan Thorburn of Shimano. Bent pinion gears. Those little inertial brakes never working correctly for an entire day fishing. Stuck line guides. Noisy. Hated em. All of em. Shimano ended up buying back one of my Curados. I think the rest are in a box in the garage somewhere.

After that I tried Garcias and Pfluegers. Never really gave Daiwa a shot because I never liked the way any of their models felt in my hand.

A couple years ago I bought a Lews Hyper Mag with a gift card. I now have 5. Easily the best reel I've ever owned.

I’ll take any right handed curado 200e7 that you have in your garage and hate.

The curados I bought were 70’s, not 200’s.

Shimano bought one back because they determined the braking system had parts ‘out of tolerance’. They offered a replacement but I took the money.

I ended up buying another Lews Lite from there. All they had left was the low gear ratio, but figured I'd try it on a topwater/jerkbait rig and they had them for 169. Cheapest I've seen.

My 150 just came in. Fantastic feel. Can't wait to spool her up. Going on one of my Academy half priced G Loomis.

I don't have much experience with the $250 range, but I do have experience with the "below" range. Lews Tourney Pro is a good choice. Curados are really nice, I have two I bought off a friend of mine, and they are fantastic. And of course Revos are a personal favorite as well; I got two of them as well.
