I called a local roofing/gutter company and asked them for a quote on the installation of 5' aluminum gutters. I would require 66 linear ft. of gutters installed on my two story house with two down spouts. The quote I received was $820.

I am doing this because the water running off my roof is causing my grass to die in my backyard and I take pride in my lawn. What are your thoughts on this quote and is there an alternative to gutters to not cause my grass to erode away?

That is like $12.42/foot not too bad when considering that he has to go two stories and will be there most of the day. with material and the cost his expenses (gas, the gutter machine and helper). All depends on actual height of the gutter, working area and any impedance will determine the cost.

If it was me I would say that is pretty fair

That doesn't seem too bad for what your getting. I had 110 Ft done last year with 3 down spouts for $1100.

too damn high, as much as twice too damn high...
gutters are great under one condition, they are cleaned out at least quarterly, more during spring leaf out and fall/winter leaf drop...

That seems a bit high per foot but then again for second story installation maybe it isn't. I assume the time the install will take is the main factor driving the cost up.

make sure they gots work comp. there's ways to verify their coverage. i'd not want someone falling from 2 stories on my property all cause i saved $100.

I'm able to clean my other gutters out, but the ones I would like to be installed I would never be able to clean out. I wouldn't feel safe climbing that high.

I could be wrong, but gutters don’t seem that hard to install.

they are not if you buying them in pieces. if you want seemless then you need the right tools mainly a break to make them to size or you can order them to size but it was gonna cost the same to order them and hang myself as it was to have them do it and make them on site.

I was quoted $2,022 for my house a few months ago. These are k-style seemless gutters.

Just had some done in Lafayette. $6.50/ft. Not including downspouts and only on the 1st story.

Price sounds good, I have a buddy who does gutters and aluminum gutter coil just increased over $1.00 per pound. Prices are going to continue to rise so you may want to jump on it.
