Had a rattlesnake coming too close to the camp house a few months back and we decided to eat it and I saved the skin. It was 4’2” long. I soaked the skin in alcohol and glycerin to preserve it and it is now drying out. I’d like to make some piece of decor with it for the camp but not sure what to do with it. Thought about wrapping an axe handle with it and hanging it up in the living room but I’m not sure how to finish it with the rattle. Anyone done anything cool with a snakeskin?

You should have let your nephew skin it then make a hat band out of it. If you're ever at a coffee shop just trying to pass the time and need to punk out some bikers it could come in handy.

I have eaten rattle snake before. Not much juice for the squeeze. I found it to be more of a novelty food.

You don’t have to make an excuse for killing a rattlesnake for these wanna be tough guys

Either way the snake had to be removed from the property. I could have relocated it but WTF. I just wanted to taste it and wanted the skin to do something cool with. Didn't want to waste him.

I'm not going to risk a snake bite to get rid of rodents. We've seen rat snakes around there. Scares the crap out of us every time but we leave them be. Rattlers aren't going to be left around.

Definitely not much meat on those bones. It's mostly breading with a very thin layer of chicken in it.

On the skin idea, as of right now I'm going with the axe idea I think. I'll figure out how to work the tail in to it somehow.

I should have used validate instead of excuse. I 100% agree with killing all venomous snakes on site.

Don't blame you for eliminating the threat, especially if there are kids around.

Try something different, make a couple beer koozies. That should make for some good baw conversation.

Chris LeDoux is the GOAT. Saw him a few times back in the day at Billy Bobs. Great artist and put on amazing shows. RIP
