Despite low breeding numbers in 2016/early 2017, no thanks to all that high water...We’ve seen an early shake back in rabbit numbers in the Wax. Yesterday’s beagle drive/rabbit hunt was full of excitement again. Looking forward to a productive season. Definitely makes kissing that dreaded duck season goodbye a little more fulfilling lol.

I tried Friday to jump them up and shoot by myself. I jumped 3 of those little furry balls of lightning and didn’t even squeeze a shot off.

My dad and my uncle kept 7 Beagles for rabbit hunting when I was a kid. Those were some of the best times I ever had hunting growing up. I'd love to do the same with my son when he's old enough, but I'm not sure using our Puggles would yield the same results as those Beagles we had

Man o Man I wish we had Texas rules for hunting rabbits. It is so fun at night with a light, a .22, a sidexside and a few beers. Daylight comes quick when your having that much fun. Out in Sonora we kill 112 one night. Started 30 minutes after and watched the sun come up as we rolled back into camp.

There are a ton in the vicinity of my house. I’ve never seen them on my property but I see them along the ditches down the street. I’d like to start hunting them, but without using dogs or hunting huge briar patches, how could I go about it?

If there are as many as you say you have two options.
Sit and hunt them with a 22 or 17 or whatever like you hunt deer,

Put on some briar proof pants grab your favorite shotty and smash some thick stuff. This works much better with 2 people, one get positioned to shoot and the other be the dog. Take turns being the dog. You can do it by yourself, but you will miss out on plenty of shots.

Does anyone know the legal hours/methods in Mississippi? I only know dates and bag limits.
