Cabela’s has PowerPro on sale for 50% off.

With summer cranking up I stocked up with 6 spooles of 30# 300yd for $12.50 a piece.

**Also a helpful tip for those that don’t live near Cabela’s (or even if you do) pull this ad up on your phone and bring it to academy, they will match the price and take an extra 5% off.

Thanks. I was just coming here to ask if any of the offbrand braids were decent. If PP is half off, I'll just pick up some of that.

Haven't tried any of the SuperSlick, whats the difference from the regular PP? I have always just stuck with the regular.

Waaaaay smoother and limper than regular PP. It translates to longer casting distance and less digging into the spool.

Regular PP is a 4 strand braid whereas the SS is an 8 strand. After you use SS, you'll hate regular PP.

Forgive my ignorance but is it ok to tie lures directly to the braid or is it important to have mono leader? I have always just fished mono and having to make a leader when changing lures (which I do often) seems like it would be a pain when wade fishing.

you can get away with tying to braid for reds most the time but in clean water trout will see it for sure. For testing purposes last week I tried to freeline a croaker on strait braid and didn’t get a bite... switched back to a fluorocarbon leader and caught immediately.

I’m gonna get some because it’s on sale but I’m only keeping braid on my cork reels or others that require a leader for live bait. For jigs and twitch baits, I’ll stick to my stren.

Just tie a long leader (4-6') and then you just kind of use up the leader throughout the day as you cut and retie. Only need to replace the leader when you've used up most of it.

And color doesn't matter, especially since you'll be using a leader.

I tried the Super Slick and didn't care for it. Went back to original. To each their own I guess

What didnt you like about it? Just curious. It is VERY limp which can make it somewhat of a pain to tie knots with in smaller diameters. And also makes it more likely to get tangled on hooks and rod eyes.

I found on a baitcaster, I got about another 10-15' of casting distance with the same lb vs traditional PP.

Wrong

But seriously water clarity plays a huge part to that statement but after losing some nice fish with double uni or other knots to braid leaders
I did away with it and gone with tying directly to the lure
I guess if I knew I can was going to only be catching trout say surf fishing I go back to the leader but once that occasional red smashes that lure in the marsh that leader going to be tested over and over
But the sensitivity of braided line while trout fishing is hard to beat that’s for damn sure

What color did you throw? I’ve only bought moss green but that onyx looks good almost like a greenish black maybe worth a shot in the marsh

It was the light green that came on those Concepts we bought. Showed up enough to keep those lil frickers off my cricket.
