I am 150% in favor of this. It isn't even closing hunting after 2 pm, just closing it to mud motors. I am glad Tyler finally brought it up to the commission last month.

Weren't you recently bragging about getting there in some stage 2 bro drive? Certainly you're not getting in a pirogue

indeed I was but we hunt in the morning and that's it. we don't run around like flat bills. they need to make it 2 pm and no hunting after. I was never out there past 8 anyways

also you know me better than that, you are the last person to tear up the marsh in your boat baw..

You're not helping me here. Playing both sides of the field with a shiny hook.

The question is can you fish after 2pm out of a mud motor type boat on the WMA. I know of folks that run down river in their mud boats for the weekend and want to be able to hunt in the morning and fish in the afternoon without having to have two different boats. I see a dilemma.

The verbiage would be tricky. Folks will be using the campground in them.

Perhaps you can elaborate on some of the other factors that have changed over the last 25 years.

Yes there are a lot of other factors that have changed in last 25 years (like bird #'s) but I have seen how the birds react differently to pressure and how they don't stay on the refuge like they used to.

No hunting allowed from boats with air cooled motors.

Have to haul pirogues and park in the canal if you want to hunt the evening.

Personally I wish they would just shut hunting down at noon like the Delta/Federal.

I would love a statewide ban on mud motors everywhere. I know that is a long way off but this is a great first step. I believe the outcome of this will lead to step 2 which is a 12:00 noon ban statewide on mud motors on all state and federal property. Then hopefully step 3 will be some mud motor restrictions on puclic or private lands statewide with maybe horse power or time of day. Hats off government got something right for once

Hunting Pass A Loutre is hard hunting. It's dangerous just to get down there. If I am going to make trip I would want to hunt twice a day. Only being able to hunt till noon wouldn't make it worth all the hassle. Then again maybe that's what they are going for.

You do realize making two hunts in one day is called double dipping and is ILLEGAL right! Unless somehow you go all that way and don't limit out on most of your hunts going back is completely illegal.

The challenge of getting there and back safely and the hassle is what makes hunting down there so special for me.

The train of thought that I have to make two hunts a day is another form of pressure and it's that kind of pressure that is destroying the hunting down there.

Don't believe me go down there right now with no pressure there are birds everywhere. Go down during the season and sit at the edge of East bay and watch the birds come in by the thousands after shooting time closes, that's pressure at work.

Clearly, I only hunt twice if I didn't get my 6 in the morning.

Glad we are clear on that as you and I are in the minority down that way on that issue

I should have said I want to "be able" to hunt twice a day. Many times we don't shoot shite in the morning, and have to set up at a different spot for the afternoon hunts. If I went down there and got skunked in the morning and couldn't make another hunt the whole long trip would be worthless.

Just because you own it, does not mean you can destroy it. Would you be cool with your neighbors jumping marsh grass and creating cuts that erode the property to the point it affects your own land? I suspect you would not be happy. It's no different than digging a ditch in your back yard that floods your neighbor.

It's time to start giving a frick.

That's a pretty specific scenario you got there. I agree that you should not do anything that would negatively affect a neighboring property, and should be legally held responsible for such. Whether it's doing it with a mud motor or excavator. I think that you are focused on a very small percent of idiots out there who tear stuff up. I would bet 98% of land owners are not "jumping marsh grass" and eroding their own property.

I don't know how you guys are driving your mud boats, but I have rarely seen where somebody has done any serious damage to property with one. Maybe I just don't go where the flatbills and white oakleys roam.

If parts of my own property are only accessible by a long tail mud motor, but now I can't get there because of mudmotortalk thundercats rooster tailing through the marsh got them banned I would be pissed. It just seems unfair to the majority of responsible mud motor owners.
