Anyone know of one stop shops for CJ7 restorations? Engine, transmission, paint, electrical?

Thanks

Why not do it yourself? It isn't that complicated it's just a jeep. I'd have zero pride in it after simply paying someone to do it.

IIRC, there is a Jeep place in Slidell that only deals with Wranglers. It's on I-10 service rd. Try calling them

They're not the same thing. CJ7 > Wrangler

Unless you have a specific attachement to a particular one, buy one that someone else restored and save yourself 10-20k.

Maybe for a classics comparison but every evolution of the Jeep cj then yj, then tj, etc...are better than the previous in terms of functionality on and off road.

Doesn't exist. Just drop the thing off at my house and I'll dispose of it for ya.

You're welcome. :)

There can be an argument for TJ being better than CJ, but do not include the YJ in that discussion. The YJ were the dark years for Jeeps...

They all have issues, the YJ offered fuel injection, was more stable, was more reliable and came better prepared out of the box than the CJ's.

Again, from a classics perspective the CJ[7] is sweet, but thats when built no way like the factory. But out of the box CJ's were plagued with failures as well

Okay, so there's NOT a place on the side of I-10 with like 25 CJ7s. They only have 24, so please ignore my post.

I'll edit that one, and you can continue being a douchey Jeep guy

Man, if I had a nickel for every time I wanted to tell people that. Now, you can restore a CJ and make it better than its OEM parts would, and that can make it a beast, but then you essentially have the body of a CJ and the guts and under pinnings of a beast.

The only weakness newer models have that older models don't is interiors that are more impervious to rain and sun damage. There is absolutely a charm to having a bomb proof interior and an old jeep... but if I am restoring an old jeep, you can bet it's going to have a vastly superior engine, transmission, axles.... etc.

CJ - Civilian Jeep
YJ - Yesterday’s Jeep
TJ - Today’s Jeep
JK - Just Kidding

I have a ‘04 Unlimited and ‘06 X. Would be nice to have a CJ too.

"Its a Jeep Thing" every model is bad to another sub group. In comparison to the newer models capabilities, it sucks. Its not a steel body, underpowered, carbed V8, so it sucks.

In reality its a better vehicle than the CJ's its just not a "classic". It's cheaper to work on and modify than the newer Jeeps as well

you know, i've heard "real jeeps have round headlights."

well, i like to say, "real jeeps have leaf springs."
