I shoot a Savage .308 and use 150 grain Remington Core Lokt PSP.

They are relatively inexpensive at 14-20 dollars per 20 rd box and they get the job done. I have always had good penetration and expansion and have never lost an animal I shot with this combo.

Silly me for believing the title was pretty specific.

It was not preferred projectile for hunting, but if we are including those:

Carbon Express Trophyhunter Lite dressed with 2" quickspins and a lumenock with 100 gr wasp stingers.

150 grain Remington Premium Core-Lokt Ultra (like $45 a box ) out of a .30-06

Will never buy the Sirocca (or however they are spelled) again. Wouldn't mushroom. Small hole in, small hole out.

So why do you use it over 150 gr Remington Core-Lokt PSP .30-06 $15-20 per box

BTW:
Sirocca

Yea made for max penetration

I think I may have a new self assigned nickname.

I used to shoot a Remington 7400 .308 with the 150 grain Remington Core Lokt ammo.

Thanks to a very generous graduation gift, I now shoot a Tikka SS .270 with Hornady 130 grain.

We've been really happy with the bullet. Seems to really pack a punch. Why? I don't know. I usually only shoot a few times a year so it's not like the cost really matters that much.

However, when I'm at the range, I don't like shoot $2+ bullets for target practice.

I kind of want to try some other "better" rounds in my .308 but I just cant find a reason to do so. I will admit that the polymer tipped bullets are appealing to me as my current ones tend to to get a bit of flattening of the nose if handled too much.

Why? What practical advantages are you gaining when used for Whitetail deer.
