always had good penetration
I use core lokt out of my shitty 30.06 or the pretty expensive Win Ballistic Silver Tip from my 270WSM

I shoot corelokts out of all three of my rifles.

30-06 Federal Premium 165gr Boattail
Used Corelocts for years as well as the Winchester Power Points. My son made a good shot on his biggest buck (at the time-120 8pt)and the Power Point came apart.
Found him 3 days later, the exit hole was smaller than the entrance hole. I vowed to never use cheap bullets again.
I've never had any problems with the corelocts, but for some reason I cannot trust them.

Corelokts FTMFW. I have never lost a deer with corelokts out of either my 270 or Alt 6.

I used Win Power Max .243 100 gr this weekend. Worked well on the doe I shot.

Try using Hornady .308 150 gr Boat Tail Soft Point. Have used this bullet in reloads and for the past few years have used Hornady factory loads. Have shot this ammunition in a bolt action hunting rifle and an M1-A without fail. All of the deer I have killed have dropped on the spot. This ammunition will do the job if you are looking of something different in .308

I think this is what I used the last two years. Only had my .243 for a few years but seams to work good for me.
