Amen ole timer. I’m 66 and remember catching 10x the bass that most adults now catch. And did it on a rod an reel that was expensive at $50 and in a rowboat that we actually rowed to fish a lake shoreline! No electronics. It’s was about being out there and learning the lake and fish. And nobody gave us a prize. We had it great!

I’m 50 and I’m well aware that I can’t stop what’s coming.

I've heard them say that only about 10% of the fish they see bite.
Of course not. Because none of them know any actual skill or technique.
Finding fish is one thing. Getting stubborn fish to bite is something else. The advantage they have is they know exactly where the fish are and have a higher probability of getting a strike just simply because they are presenting the bait to real fish every time.

I do. I wish there were not any fishing tournaments.

not much different than game cameras....

I feel the same with the older guys that hunted deer without 10 cameras and with a piles of ricebran every 100yrds. Times have changed so say the least, but like game cameras and feeding with Bass masters it's not against the rules to use and it's to everyone fishing it's there to use. I am not against it, but wish it would change some like the A-Rig, and how MLF has done.
I will leave you with this thought, the older Pro guys before FFS, what the difference during the spawn, running trawling motor on 10 looking for a spawning female and sitting on her for sometimes hours aggravating her until she at some point bits and in the Pro's you have to prove she was hooked in the mouth. FFS I have never seen a fish foul hooked. With FFS guys using it, if the fish they see doesn't look interested, they just move on, but to camp out on a female ready to spawn and aggravating her until she can't take it and then she hits the bait only to move it off her bed, is that any different?

grown arse men being so angry over a 22 year old bassmaster champion is absurd to me
the same people complaining about the sport being ruined....what happened to sportsmen being happy and congratulating one another. now we're taking to the internet to bash a kid who did nothing illegal. he was just better at the game.
he didnt qualify and enter a tournament that didnt allow FFS. he fished the bassmaster classic where every single other competitor had FFS but didn't use it well enough so they loss.

something spiritual about chunking and winding...

This whole conversation is getting dumb.
It's part of the game..... He played within the rules of the game.
I'm not a "Scoper" but honestly it's mainly because I don't have an extra 3 grand laying around to put it on my rig.
I prefer to fish shallow and flip and pitch, throw a top water, etc... but if I were still fishing competitively you better believe that would be my first purchase.

Relying on that tech is such a joke, might as well allow the use of dynamite
