Pond construction: is 1/2 an acre ok?

Lol nascar fan sucks at pond building.
Now that that’s out of the way, is a 1/2 acre pond adequate to support perch and small bass? Have 2 acres and thinking about putting a small pond in one corner.
Thoughts?

My pond is 1/4 acre and (with feeding) supports a healthy population of hybrid coppernose bluegill and bass

The local soil conservation service in your areA will shoot the pond for you and tell you how big and deep it can be.

I have a 2/10-1/3 acre pond, 5' deep and it supports plenty of fish. Call the aquacologist at LSU, he was very helpful when I called after we brought the lot 2 years ago.

Growing up, my neighbors had a small pond that couldn’t have been bigger than 1/4 acres. We caught plenty of bream and bass up to about 3 pounds.

Do not stock perch/crappie.
Edit: lol at the downvotes.

Mine is over run with stunted perch. I am going to add some hybrid striped bass this spring to help with them. I'd let someone come trap them to get them under control if I knew anyone who wanted them.

As an aside, Ray Scott, Founder of BASS later went on to designing and developing lakes as well as offering help with small pond. When asked what differentiates a lake from a pond he replied "If you're buying, it's a pond. If your selling, it's a lake."
TO the OP, if you can fnd it he put out a video series called "Complete Guide to Creating Great Small Water". I've only seen a used copy on Amazon in VHS. I think it's a 3 tape set.
Good Luck, Be sure to invite the OB over to fish

a small pond is just a big aquarium - you need to monitor the feed , ph, fertilizer etc and never put a fish back after catching, watch for weeds and control EARLY or you will regret it - no sac a lait

Why never put a fish back after catching it?

There is 0 reason to do this.

Because he will go back and tell his friends what happened. That’s why you don’t put caught fish back.

Why not put white perch in a pond?

Are there any insurance/liability considerations for building a pond (similar to a pool I mean)?

Stocking white perch in a pond results in a pond full of nothing but tiny crappie 99% of the time.

We stocked White/Black crappie years ago in our pond they did perfectly fine! We have some 3 pounders in it! Of course our pond is 98 surface acres!
