Looking at the Resqlink 400 survival kit to keep in my boat. Anybody have any experience with this model or have any ideas on a better unit? Best I can find price wise is around $335.

I have a ResQlink + which looks like the older version of that. Can’t really vouch for how well it works thankfully since I haven’t had to use it

ResQlink +
I have this one and was boarded by CG last year in Barataria Pass. Once I showed them that I had one, they told me have a nice day and sent me on my way.

I have had two ACR units an older Resqlink and a newer Resqlink+.
Unfortunately I had to use the older one when I broke my leg during an off road motorcycle trip in Idaho.
It worked great along with my SPOT and the forest rangers got to me and got me out to an ambulance.
The ACR units are one time use and need new batteries every 5 years to remain compliant but there is no annual fee. You also need to register and renew your NOAA registration every 2 years (free).
SAR is actually one of the things our government does well.
A floating Resqlink+ attached to a life vest is what most guys I know who boat use.
Many have died by not being prepared, don't be that guy!
ETA: The PLB's are reusable but you are supposed to get the battery replaced after an activation. Costs about $150 to send off to an authorized shop and get a new battery.

I have a nautilus beacon but haven’t used it. It was 250ish and had good reviews on a forum I visit.

Same. i got a 25cc with twin motors and go a good ways offshore.
feel much more comfortable with this on board, especially since my son is getting big enough to come.

We have a delorme inreach, family can track on garmin website and text message off of it.. Can connect it to your phone to make it easier and also an epirb. We routinely run 80 plus miles counting river on overnighters single df 300 out of venice for snaps, tuna, and whatever else bites. Very nice to have service out there as alot can go wrong quickly...

I have an ACR marine floating PLB (dont remember the model) and a garmin inreach. Use both for fishing and public land hunting.
