Home Depot has their Vision Grill on sale today for $560 LINK. The Pit Boss at Costco is $600 LINK. Which is the better buy? The Pit Boss is 662 sq in cooking area vs 604.

Well you have the second one reversed. If you want to do price per square inch, the Pit Boss is 91 cents vs 93 cents for the Vision.

I had a pit boss till the recent tornadic weather in BR put an oak down on my house and patio crushing mine.... I loved my pit boss as soon as costco here gets them back in stock I am going to fetch another one.

Vision has that propane conversion.

I wanted that one, so I could use propoane for the normal cooking and then charcoal for the long smokes.

If that's your max budget, just get two Akorns.

No experience with the Vision but I bought a Pit Boss from Costco last month and have been very happy with it so far. The PitBoss comes with the ceramic deflector plate and it looks like the vision does not, more than likely you'll want a deflector plate especially if you plan to smoke anything on it.

This looks like a deciding factor.

My preference would be the Pit Boss.

However I did notice that Home Depot has free home delivery available. Might be worth it to you depending on situation.

It's a little more coin, but I just ran across this looking at some cooking surfaces. It's the older model, but it's a better option than the two you're looking at. Love my KJs.

Kamado Joe Closeout Pricing $899

ETA: Also a lifetime warranty, so there's that

Of those 2 the Pit Boss.

All that sheet metal on the front of that vision will rust then cause air leaks.

If you can swing this its a great deal and a lot better quality than the two you listed. I have a Green Egg but I wouldn't hesitate to buy a KJ at all. They're great smokers

How so?

Just curious. I have the Pit Boss and I’m wondering what could be a big “quality” difference between the KJ and others.

Divide & Conquer system is a huge get. Basically comes with everything you need out of the box.

Lifetime warranty/great customer service.

Add-ons a plenty available. The Joetisserie being one that comes to mind that would be a nice addition for him down the road.

I personally like the looks of it better.

ETA: Never mind

Looked hard(cooked on all 3) at KJ... and had a sweet deal on one and an egg.... simply could not see the worth in added cost.... the only one worth more money IMO is primo and every june since they have carried them costco cuts in store price to roughly 400... when its' time to move them.

I bought that same exact Vision a while back. It is a great grill and can hold heat very well but I've cooked on a BGE and now have a Kamado Joe Classic II. If I were you I would save a little longer and get one of those. I here Primo is very good too. I can get my Kamado Joe much hotter, holds the temps much better and longer and can fluctuate the temps up and down much better and faster.
On the Vision, that door that opens to put the part in to start the charcoal will leak and other places leak also. I tried everything to fix it but never could get it just right. It's a great grill but its half the price of the others for a reason.

I bought a vision the weekend before 4th of July. Absolutely no complains. Got it for 450 tho. Couldn’t pass it up. Bought mine at sams. I’ve probably used it at least 3x a weeks since I bought it.

Once I work out some things i'll be looking to do something with either Primo or KJ or maybe both if there's enough interest. Saving around 25-30% off msrp off the whole lineup including carts and accessories. One thing I need to figure is the logistics of getting them out to buyers.
