Very cool. Though I've only pheasant hunted twice it was perhaps the most fun I've had hunting. I went to North Dakota. I had no idea there were western hemisphere pheasant below the 30th parallel and above the equator.

Ok, I see. It's almost southern California or Arizona. Looks like there is no border fence along that sector. Free movement north and south across the border. Looks a little dusty there. Thank goodness for Rio Colorado.

No, why would it be?

These are driven wild birds in planted fields. My outfitter leases around 2500 acres of fields. This year mainly cotton. Google it if you don’t believe me

My interest is that pheasant survive well farther north but this location is quite far south. But alas I found another range map that illustrates indeed wild pheasant are present in parts of southern California and just across the border in Mexico.

He doesn’t have a site, word of mouth from clients. Cost runs around $2500 not including doves and airfare.

This crew has been going down there awhile, so they know the ins and outs for safety. Basically don’t wander off alone into the city on foot. That said, the Cartel can be unpredictable.

Yeah the wild birds are pretty much gone around Yuma, AZ due to loss of habitat from very clean farming practices (not much grass around and in the fields). Mexico still has habitat.

Clean farming will be the end of most wild bird upland hunting in America

I was talking with a pheasant forever biologist one day and the topic of why while pheasants stocking program in Louisiana didn’t work in the 90’s. He thought it wasn’t Temps, but humidity levels that causes issues with eggs.
