So I guess I'm the only lazy bastard with a canoe and trolling motor set up. I went with that because I can still launch from anywhere a kayak can launch though it may take a minute longer to hook up the battery. I still get to fish as skinny water as kayaks do. When I get super skinny I just pick the motor up and either paddle or stand and push pole.

I get that it is more of a challenge to paddle to the fish and must feel more rewarding to catch a fish knowing you put that much effort in to it. I fish to catch fish though, not for the challenge.

Like I said either in the thread, I still want a pedal system kayak. I've fished along side guys with hobies and they were keeping up pretty well with me and I cruise at about 4 mph, but that was with no wind.

Even after I get a motorboat I'll still break out the canoe/kayak. It's just fun as hell hooking a nice sized red from such a small platform. Keep yaking yakers

2 weeks ago a few of us easily paddled 5 miles. We spent all dayum day on the water and we're completely exhausted afterwards. That was the huge push for the peddle. However, I really do enjoy the paddling of my ascend. Will probably toss and turn and stress about this until hair turns gray or a break down and buy my next yak. Probably will not buy a new hobie if that's what I get. I've seen a good bit if pa's for $2k and a little lower. None more than 3 or 4 years old

They're pros and cons to each. If you have to paddle a ways to get to your fishing spot, pedal might be best for you.

Holy shite, has no one corrected you on "peddle"? It didn't jump out to me until just now.

99% sure I'm getting a Slayer 12 in a couple of months.

I'm also thinking about rigging it up for bowfishing as well, for those days when you can see the reds but they won't bite. Shoot that motherfricker in the eyeball.

Well just think, in a few years you can make them paddle while you fish. Now that's the best of both worlds (paddle v pedal).

There has been so much "peddling" in here.

I typed "peddle" in my response but for some reason it didn't look quite right.

I looked a little bit for the exact one I use and couldn't find it right away. I'm busy but it's a Motorguide 55 lb trust transom mount salt water addition with the variable speed and reverse. I bought mine through bass pro. 55 lb thrust is the most powerful available for a 12 volt battery.

And just a reminder, whenever you put a motor on a vessel, including a trolling motor, you're required to register said vessel with green jeans.

Yep got it registered with boat numbers on the side and carry the paperwork. It's all legitimate.

I reserved a big rig for Monday to take out. I'll probably do the same thing for a few others including the hobies over the next few weeks to help make my decision. Figured that's truly the only way to decide if paddle or PEDDLE works best for me.

I demo'ed a Big Rig a few weeks ago and really liked it's stability and layout but ended up going with the Slayer 14.5.

Why the slayer over big rig? The big rig had to have a good bit more space. How big are you? I'm 6'2" and 235. My ascend works good and I even stand and fish but very carefully.
