I'm so jealous. I'm teetering on getting a 6 lb trout, but have not yet reached that mark. lots of 4.5-5 lbers over the past few years. Elusive frickers.

Not sure what I'd do, maybe take a pic and toss it back or keep and mount. Truthfully not real sure. If I wasn't alone I'd keep for sure, they wouldn't let me toss it.
Good day.

Meh if the dude wasn't pushing 100 I would agree. This old dude fished his whole life and this is probably the biggest trout he's ever caught. Keep it old man Rivers

Sucks knowing I'll fish the rest of my life and likely not see a trout on my line close to this

Yeah that thing is going back in the water if it was mine. It feels good to release some fish every now and then, especially the big ones. Measure, take a few quick pics, and get a replica made.

My fishing day might have ended when that fish came over the side. I'm still searching for a 6.

I think I'd put her back. But it's nice to see an old man enjoying the autumn of his life and getting such a thrill.

Makes you wonder how many records have been caught and the person catching them didn't know or care how much they weighed The world record bass was was eaten without a second thought

Was talking to a couple of guides and they told me that they are sure they have cleaned some fish that could have gone in the record book but the clients either did not care or just wanted to get out of there.

Take it with a grain of salt but I believe this kind of thing happens.

What if I told you that you could have the fish mounted and release it? With the quality of replica mounts today there is no sense in keeping a fish just to mount it. That being said I have no issue with this guy keeping a legal fish to eat. I would rather see it released but this guy comes from a different era. That is quite an accomplishment and Im happy for him.

Eh I don't believe all the 'I don't care what a fish weighs', my grandfather is in his mid 80s and likes to keep fish to eat as well as anyone but that doesn't mean he doesn't like big fish. I call BS that guy isn't showing that picture around town of that fish. He may not give a damn to mount it and what not, but I don't believe for a second he's not glad he caught.
