I have really gotten into vegetable gardening/small time farming as a hobby. We live on about 40 acres and currently my vegetable garden is up to about 3 acres and I love working with it. I also farmed my fields for hay this year for the first time that was fun also.
Of course the reason I live on a farm is to train labs for hunt tests, field trials, and duck hunting. IMO that is one of the best hobbies I have found yet that isn't hunting. It keeps your mind in it all year long.

I sail a couple times a week which puts me in touch with a lot of birdwatching opportunities. I can see how people get into it because I get a little thrill out of seeing birds I've never seen before or birds that aren't supposed to be there. Like this summer, (Cross Lake in Shreveport) we had brown pelicans for the first time in my 43 years. They just don't come this far north so that was a trip. Might have had something to do with the oil spill.
This time of year we see all kinds of weird diving ducks. I saw one the other day that I would swear was an Eider and we're WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY outside their range. Was probably something else but it's cool to see something you've never seen before.

Not currently but I am looking to fence off a few acres of my property to raise some beef for personal consumption

I used to rope in high school and college. Have had cows most of my life. Now I just have horses, break and train all the ones I have for myself. Kids getting bigger would like to get some cows again one day.

We have a crawfish pond we work and we also raise ducks. We sell woodducks and have other kinds that don't breed. (pintail, wegion, teal, ringneck, redhead, etc.)

It cost money and takes alot of time. With kids not as much time to spend however you want to. Plus I get more enjoyment out of training and starting colts than I ever did roping.

I think I have tried almost every activity you could include. Diving, skiing, skydiving, hunting, fishing, rafting etc...
Through it all my favorite activity is still just hiking with a camera. River rafting a close second.
