My son wants one for Christmas for his Tikka .300 Win Mag. Supposedly similar light gathering ability and clarity as scopes twice the price. I’m just a duck hunter, so I don’t know crap about scopes.

Hawk is another brand he is considering.

BIL in Wyoming swears by them and used to be a big game guide. I’m itching to try one out

as others and your son have noted, Maven has very good optics for the money

Hawke Optics are based out of Great Britain and they do have a location in the U.S. Hawke got started making high quality glass for the extreme air gun shooters, and their product line has expanded to include spotting scopes and range finders.

I've bought 10-12 Hawke scopes from CameraLand NY as they are the top seller with the lowest prices. Ask for Neil or Doug as they will hook you up. CLNY doesn't charge sales tax or shipping fees. A $50+ savings on a $400 scope

I use Maven bino's and they are fantastic. Based on these I would have no issue using their other optics.

I personally think they are overpriced.

My opinions on scopes these days are

SWFA if you're on a budget
Nightforce if you arent

You get what you pay for in an optic.

True, but their business model simply cuts out the middle man

You are paying them for the scope. Not paying Cabelas who paid them for the scope

I will say the mavens I have outpunch their price point by a pretty good margin. My last scope was a leupold vx3hd. For my next expensive build I'll proabably go maven

I can only speak on their B1.2 binos- I was blown away.

I’ve looked at midrange ($1k) binoculars for the last 6 months. Literally everyone’s pair in that price range. These crushed them- eye relief, clarity, construction, everything

Took advantage of their demo program and took a pair on a hunt that required glassing nonstop. I’d put these up against Swaro EL’s. Lighter too

They were brighter at 5:30 than my Swaro Z6 by a hood but.

I know it’s not a scope, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one if they’re in the range you’re looking to spend

Guy on rokslide who does some drop tests on scopes. Maven fails miserably.

I don't hav any personal experience w/ Maven, but I own one Hawke, a 4-12 x 50 Vantage w/ illuminated reticle. The ballistic reticle is set up for subsonic 22 LR rounds to be zeroed at 50 yds. The other ballistic marks on the vertical reticle hit point of aim at 75, 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200 yards. I've been pleased w/ the scope. It's clear and hold zero well. OTOH, I learned the hard way to be sure and turn the IR off when not in use. I turn the IR on only when night hunting.
