It was the opposite this year. The field looked pretty slim when we scouted 2 days ago and this morning they just showed up.

I managed to shoot like absolute garbage half the day. Finally dialed in just to have winds pick up. Looks like storms will be here shortly till Friday. At least managed 7 and a surprise pigeon.

Supposed to go this afternoon but it’s getting pretty dark in that direction...

Very slow in Sealy this morning. There was some shooting around us but nothing like it’s been years past. Scratched out a handful, but I think I’ll be waiting for the south zone opener to make my next dove hunt.

Y'all should appreciate the blessing that Texas dove shooting is! I asked a kid that works for me about shooting dove in Washington and he told me it was GREAT...he killed 6 or 7...LAST SEASON LOL. He wasn't lying either....honestly I do not know why they have a season.....its unbelievably bad.

I did get on a good for the area shoot last year in a cherry orchard next to an irrigation ditch...good for the area meaning 5 mourning dove and 7 collared dove in 2 hours of an evening....folks I was with were shocked by the pile of birds LOL...took a BUNCH of pictures it was so unusual to them. I didn't have the heart to tell them I probably wouldn't bother again LOL....every time I run into the guy who invited me to shoot he brings up that incredible shoot and tells anyone who will listen about how many birds I shot LOL....

I dread that every year. See tons of doves and I get out there opening day and they are all gone.

Doves are always out there when you’re not looking for them

Thunderstorms in Georgia....every year....without fail....dove LOADED up the weekend before the opener....then, Thursday or so, a typical thunderstorm will move in and every dove in the county will have business elsewhere!

Same thing happens in New Mexico and West Texas....drought for months, birds all bunched up around any water still standing, and then 2 days before the opener the bottom will fall out, flash floods everywhere, and the damned desert will look like a marsh for a few days...and the birds will be ones and twos and living the life of Reily on their own little pond for a week or so....but they always find their way back to that water that is there year round!

Where about, Clyde? I'm gonna give it a try this afternoon with the wife and boys in Athens. Hopefully they aren't passing by at 60 mph due to wind.

Sealy area...the doves are all south of town. Out west, I don't think I have seen double digits since the big storm Friday night.

Sealy North location was 30% of what it was prior years. Sealy South location was 75% of previous. Limits on South side AM, PM limits for shooters with the high winds this evening.

SWW Opener scouting looks solid to the south this weekend.
