PSA for folks submitting online concealed handgun permit applications.
I received this notice today from LSP's Concealed Handgun Permit Section:
LSP Instructors,
The Concealed Handgun Unit has received multiple calls in regards to applicants not being able to complete their application online. After working with the applicants, it was determined to be an outdated web browser. Please advise your students to download the most current web browser on their computers to ensure the online application can be completed.

Any idea if they still require notary for renewals?
Someone here mentioned that requirement will go away soon.

Just completed my renewal on line. Three of the attachments must be notarized.

For several years they did away with the notary stuff -- you simply signed an acknowledgment (under penalty of perjury) that all of the info you entered on the application was true/accurate.
Every time a new Sgt. takes over the CHP Unit, it seems like something changes. I presume the changes are the result of problems they have experienced.

Are instructors in the BR area still conducting classes currently?

Yes. Some have been adding classes to keep up with demand during social distancing.

Several are -- I'm not yet doing so. It depends on your risk tolerance. My conference room just isn't big enough to safely accommodate a group for a nine hour lesson.
One of my students whose permit was expiring took a local class last month - he called me on his way home. He said social distancing & mask wearing were enforced for the first hour - then it was a "free for all." He was quite disappointed with the presentation (in addition to the mask/social distancing issue).
But, if your permit is expiring, or if you're being stalked, you may have very few options.

Any guess on the timeline for renewals? Thanks to the virus foolishness I'm sure things have gotten backed up. Been waiting 6 weeks for my renewal, it expired a couple weeks ago now.

I applied about a month ago for my renewal and haven’t heard anything back yet

okay last I got was an email from LSP in Sept stating -
Application for Concealed Handgun Permit submitted on 09/xx/2020 11:58:00 AM is in PENDING REVIEW
Guess we just wait and see... not sure what the policy is or any grace period for an expired permit pending renewal, doesn't seem like a good candidate to test and see.

Alabama resident. Applied for one on Thursday, picked it up yesterday.
Tell me how much it sucks to live in a shithole state.

I have a few kinfolks who live over there - they say the only issue they've seen is a few residents who trash talk using a keyboard.

Mine has expired since I submitted my application, I'm unlicensed until it renews.
Also, my status is "PENDING ACCEPTANCE" but they never have sent me the email asking for payment. Anyone else have this?
