Are you related to my wife? Sound like something she would say in addition to saying that we could eat lobster 24/7 at what you spend on fishing! That is why I made the comment about our elders.

I sure see a lot of Power poles out there, but I have yet to see someone actually using them.
They're not very noticeable when in use.

Problem is finding someone who has spot lock trolling motors in stock

For what I do, 2 power poles has been the ticket, elite boat positioning regardless of the wind or tide for the most part. Spot Lock has its pros but the boat still swings around from the wind or current, but clutch in deeper water.
Been a big fan of PP's and have had no trolling motor on latest boat.

I have an ipilot, came with the used boat. It is good for deeper water but you can move around about 10 - 15 feet. Never really had a problem with the boat swinging but the boat will face into the wind or current. The calmer the water the better it stays in position.
If money didn't matter I would have both lol. I would of took 2 power poles and a cheap trolling motor over an ipilot. I mostly marsh fish and troll down shorelines stopping at times.

Actually they are.
ETA: Talons not so much. Power Poles, yes.

Have had all the combinations discussed here from one power pole, two, Cajun anchor poles, spot lock, etc......hands down and there is absolutely no argument left. SPOT LOCK trolling motor over everything. Power poles are the biggest sandbar hang out flex of all time and that's about it. Most water fished they were/are useless because of depth or silt bottom depth. I do like the Cajun poles because of size, bulky, weight over the power poles on my small aluminum rig. I sold my last set of power poles about two years ago and really don't see a practical application with spot lock available.

One is good. Two are better.
If your bottom depth varies enough that poles won’t work well, you need a TM with Spotlock.
