If you shoot a trophy buck and it runs on my property are you going to trespass to retrieve it? The law says I don’t have to allow you to come get it. Kinda sucks looking at it from the other angle doesn’t it?

After a phone call. I know my neighbors. Hell, I’m related to most of them

The best thing that happened to dog hunters in my area is the ring leader was thrown in jail for shooting at a helicopter.
Dog hunters have done very little to self police and hold other dog hunters accountable for ruining their preferred way of heritage hunting.

You deserve all the hell y’all are catching in this thread.

Cool. When, in your mind, is an appropriate time to shoot them on my property?

honestly?

JMHO only if they show aggression... the dogs cant choose their owners and their irresponsible choices.

bullshite. Game wardens don’t police trespassing, the sheriff’s department does.

I’d never been called a cornpiler until this thread

The laws in NC prohibit hunting over bait, FWIW. The green jeans will pop you for being “near” a feeder and taking a deer.

You’re lucky. Where I hunt a deer has to wade through knee deep corn just to get on my property. It’s like a damn competition and I wish they’d outlaw it.

I love calling guys cornpilers and seeing them realize how silly it is to be so worried about where to get bulk corn the cheapest.

I have a gravity feeder out front because it’s gets the deer there so the dogs can tear out of the house at 0530 every morning and chase them off across the fence into the piney woods where they bed. Those dogs are in heaven getting to do that every day!

If I’m wanting to shoot a deer I prefer a nice pile of fresh rice bran. I feel like it’s a little extra special treat, like a last meal before I take them.

After a successful dog hunt, what do you do with the dog? Sell them to the local Chinese restaurant?

Been hunting since I could walk. My grandad who taught me didn’t like trespassing either.

Apparently you’ve never hunted over dogs. Just because the dogs are running, doesn’t mean the deer are. Obviously I’m not taking shots with a bow on a running deer. And as for my neighbors dog shitting on my porch, it’s not a problem because I have fence around my yard.

I grew up hunting with dogs. As I got older I learned that the majority of the people that hunt with dogs don’t know how to hunt. They complain about “nocturnal” deer and deer that “aren’t moving.” The real problem is they still go to pappaw’s old box stand regardless of the wind/preferred food/rut phase/etc and hope a deer walks by.

I don’t want/need a bunch of mutts dumped off in a block of woods when I take every precaution to make sure that I don’t over pressure the deer.

Lotta people talking about shooting dogs and throwing out collars. If I ever come across a lost dog I’m keeping the dog and collar. If I’m lucky I can just reprogram it straight into my Garmin alpha. New dog and I didn’t even have to train him
