To each his own.

My story is after deer hunting in SW LA for quite a few years and not seeing shite in the late 80's - early 90's, I had a chance on my first deer (ETA) and a Button Buck, at former Boise-Vernon now Clear Creek and let it walk.

The guys at the camp ragged me. However, I survived. I have killed beau coup deer since then. I don't regret it one bit.

If you are subsistence hunting, more power to you. If you kill buttons for the frick of it, well....... I don't want to get the Ban Hammer so good day.

Hunting with dogs isn’t the way it used to be because the people that hunt with dogs aren’t the way they used to be.

Count me in the minority, but I think we should all be running dogs with our families.

I wish. I don't have time to have a pack of dogs but I love them. I got to see a dog deer race on my new land last week and my blood was pumping. So much more than the slow boring hunts at my Arkansas lease. AR consistently got me deer, but hound hunts bring EXITEMENT! That can't be replaced by consistent 2-3 deer a year over corn lanes...

That’s all we run for deer nowadays. It’s easier to cut em off and keep them off other peoples property. We do everything in our power to keep them contained.

And that brings dumbfricks taking dangerous shots. Closest I ever came to being shot while hunting was dumbfrick dog hunters blasting away at a running deer.

If you want to shoot randomly with an adrenaline high hunt birds or rabbits. That small shot typically isn't going to travel 100 yards through brush and kill another hunter.

Don't conflate deer hounding with trashy hunters. Every shot should be taken with care; shots should never be taken from or across a road.
Trespassing should never happen (for humans, dogs are exempt), relax, get positioned on a natural travel lane and get ready...its awesome!

I don’t. Dog hunters do that for me.

I’m not saying you can’t hunt dogs responsibly, but it doesn’t lend itself to that. Adrenaline plus a lot of moving parts plus people with guns just isn’t an ideal situation. It happens, but we shouldn’t try to make it happen.

And there you have it.

Of course, trespassing dogs lead to “I’ve got to go get my dogs. Don’t worry about the fact that I am armed. I promise I won’t shoot anything.”

We’ve even had someone claim that they were taking kids on a hunt they won and tried to explain that’s why they were trespassing. Of course they had already trespassed across two hunting clubs from where they claimed they were supposed to be to even get to my land.

These cornpilers have read on the internet that dog hunters are trash or they have never hunted with guys that do it the right way.

Plus most hunters are too lazy to get out there and chase them down. It’s much easier to sit in a heated treehouse eating little debbies.

In this thread you’ve told everyone that you don’t think you have to respect private property rights and if a landowner defends his property from your violations, you will burn down his camp.

No reason at all to distrust hunters like you and think dog running is trashy.

Do you have a pet dog? I hope pooch never wanders on your neighbor’s lawn and they shoot him.

It isn't a problem when it happens sometimes. It's when you have folks turning their dogs loose every weekend knowing they ain't going to stay on their property.

I do and it happens occasionally. They don’t shoot him because he’s not a problem animal like the mutts you parade around other people’s property.

Today 12/11 in area 9 was bigger than Christmas morning to me. I miss the days with about 20 standers and turning at 10 dogs to run deer in the swamp. Now I have 2 dogs and can't run them today because I am at work. Tomorrow it will be on. Have a very small tract to run and probadly on 4 standers but I will still enjoy it. I must say that I am proud of the fact that our dogs rarely slept in the woods and we didn't have tracking collars and all that other fancy stuff. Spent plenty of late nights getting them back, making sure they didn't mess up the neighbors hunts.

Yeah, and she’s either inside a fenced yard or on a leash to prevent her from wandering onto property she doesn’t belong on.

Put up a fence

Spoken like someone who lives in a subdivision and can talk to 4 neighbors at once while leaning on your whopping 100’ of fence line.

In the first place, a landowner should not have to put up a fence to keep others out.

Secondly, what kind of fence would you have to put up around 300-500 acres that is gonna keep dogs out.

Ridiculous statement.
