Apparently the “in stock” Wolf 223 wasn’t really in stock a month ago....

Y'all seen any AR uppers for a reasonable price lately? All I can find arr like 200+ billet stuff. Dont want or need that for the upper im putting together.

Just looking for the upper receiver, not a complete barreled upper.

I have one I want to sell but it’s a spikes billet to go with the Jack lower I want to sell with it.

What is the benefit of having a 12" handguard instead of 15" on a 16" barrel?

Separately, how easy would it be to change out to a 12.5 or 14" barrel?

It really comes down to your personnel preference. You're not saving considerable weight by going 3 inches shorter (maybe 2 ozs with most rails). The longer rail does give you more grip and longer sight radius when using irons. I prefer a shorter rail because

I run adjustable gas blocks on most of my guns and it's easier to adjust if needed. All of My Ar's I run with a can and have the gas setting down to minimal function with the can. I keep an Alan wrench in the but stock to adjust on the fly if needed.

I just got my Eotech in. I really wanted the larger circle so I could hit something regardless of whether i was wearing glasses, contacts or nothing. Haven't sighted it in yet but the body of the thing just disappears with both eyes open. Really impressed so far with the functionality compared to a tube red dot; just wish it had the battery life.

It's really not as terrible as it's made out to be. Hit the 4 hour on button, and that's easily 75-100 range trips before the battery needs changing. I individually vacuum pack spare batteries and drop them in the grip compartment. The reticle will blink when batteries get low. When it blinks, change the battery and keep on sending lead.

The one really major stone I will throw at the EOTechs is that there is no "wake-on-movement" mode like red dot sights have. I understand that they're made for the military and wake-on-movement would massively increase battery drain and really wouldn't work well in a combat environment when Marines or soldiers are carrying around their rifles all day long. Still, for the civilian market they really should add that option with a much shorter timeout, like 5 minutes. For the vast majority of the time my rifle sits, unmoving, except for when I take it to the range. I would like to have the option not to have to fiddle with controls on the thing. What is completely impracticable in a warzone might make it the perfect short range optic for me if they did.

I just replace all the batteries every year in January. It's not a big deal.

You don’t need clips. Just get magazines. Most metal USGI mags are fine. PMAGS are ubiquitous.

Ammo. Get whatever you can. I prefer brass but steel won’t kill a novice shooter’s gun
