Ahh ok. I thought it had to be not easily adjustable and on a “pistol” buffer. I figured I had it wrong tho with the SBA3. Just didn’t look as to why, thanks for the clarification!

Yeah, IIRC the ATFs last clarification on the whole shouldering braces ordeal actually stated a brace cannot be permanently attached. But if you think about they have all been adjustable, even the original SB style brace was set on the extension wherever you wanted it.

Another option is to put a CAA stock saddle over the buffer tube. It works surprisingly well.
I just noticed that VFG. Pretty sure that's illegal (ATF said thumb stops and the Magpul AFG are good though).

As long as it's over 26" OAL and not concealed on a person the VFG is good to go.

I want a 6.5 Grendel upper. What are my options? Would like to keep it in the $400-500 range. I was thinking about buying the complete upper from PSA, but i don't know about the quality. PSA Upper
I also thought about buying the barrel and bolt combo from Brownells and building it. brownell's barrel
What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.
Edit: Meant to say it will be for my 10 yr old to deer hunt with.

Where are you located? Sulzer firearms makes them and everyone here raves about his quality. And Sulzer loves the round.
I will be building one for myself and my son at some point but not in any rush as I have a 6.8spc and 6.5cm.

PSA is meh. Quality of the parts used isn't bad but their QC and customer service is very inconsistent (they were sending people mid-length uppers with carbine-length gas tubes). The triggers suck too unless you get the EPT.

I bought a 18” from sulzer. Super nice gun. Then I built a 12.5” with faxon barrel

The buffer tube on my pistol lower wasn’t secured fully
After about 30 rounds it started twisting and came loose

Thanks for all the replies. I think i'm gonna skip PSA and either build one or go with one made by sulzer.

Yep, people have been saying that for years now on both AR15.com and M4C.net. Complete rifles shipping without staked castle nuts. :/

Why are assembled pistol lowers so much more expensive than assembled rifle lowers?
Posted on 7/22/18 at 10:44 pm to finchmeister08
The regular receiver extensions and stocks enjoy much better economies of scale than pistol extensions, proprietary brace systems etc., making the price for the rifle inputs lower.

Prop, I’ve got an opportunity to get an M&P 15 Sport II for $400. It comes with a crappy scope, but it has a bull barrel. It’s at the pawn shop I’m having my shield sent. It’s the buddy price. Yay or nay?
