im done with the ASR

That's why I kept the maad mount on my saker.

But I'm about to try the area419 mount for it to try and drop some weight.

ETA: I guess I have the trifecta mounts. I have had 0 issues with my trifecta mounts, shooting a letting cool was where people were having issues. I've had none, but I'm limited to one mount and five or so brakes.

I thought about the half Nelson too but I still ran into the thought that all my others have asr mounts.

What drew me to the TP was I planed to have a few barrels for the fix and my mxc with its tapered Barrel would be a good group for the TP.

Now with no fix in the near future I’ll just run the omega mostly on my mcx direct thread so it’s close to the TP weight with cherry bomb, but have the option to asr it and run on another gun.

Was the 14oz on the omega with just a flat end cap in direct thread mode?

Are you talking about the trash panda? I don’t think you can change it from QD to DT. I could be wrong.

My only thing that’s stopping me from pulling the trigger on a trash panda right now is I need a 1/2-28 cherry bomb in 30 cal.

I’m a littler nervous to buy a 1/2-28 and have a smith bore it to .30

Is this something like a 300 blackout? Might be better to cut back and rethread the barrel with the proper threads.

What kind .30 cal doesn't have a 5/8 - 24"?

This bad girl!

It’s a tikka lite barrel so basically no matter how far you cut it back you won’t have the shoulder to thread 5/8-25 so I cut her to 20” and threaded to 1/2-28.

Let me say it’s the best thing ever to have a light and short suppressed 308.

Only real downside is there is a pretty significant POI shift between cannon and can off. My assumption for that is the light weight barrel is affected more by hanging a 1lb can off the end. But the shift is consistent so I’m not really bothered. FYI it’s about a 5” shift.

But Q told me to take the 1/2-28 to a smith and bore to 30 so I bought it and that’s what I’m doing.

Start the clock on my wait time

Gotcha.

I hear you on the short suppressed .308.
I have a Ruger American Predator in .308 18" barrel.

Want to work up some subs for it and see how it does.

Sounds good, I have a 6mm barrel blank sitting here, but am seriously considering like an 18" 308 for the bighorn action I have coming.

Just like you said, a short suppressed 308. Fun stuff.

I bought some Becks ammo for mine, they are loaded with 168 grain Hornady ballistic tips. I shot a deer at 100 yards with it this year with the Ruger and my Omega. I heard the bullet hit the deer. He only went 20 ft and fell over dead. I couldnt believe how quiet they are.

Nice ill have to check them out. I have a rem700 20" .308 that I run my hybrid on...that heifer isn't lite tho. Wanted to "Fix" that but that's on the back burner.

Edit they say you need a 1/11 or 1/12" twist to stabilize...mine is 1/10". The 180s say they need the 1/10 so maybe ill try that route. They tested it in the same rem700 I have and recommend it for the 180grains.

Mine is 1:10” so it should do fine with the heavier bullets.

I found a calculator that would tell you if your barrel was good to stabilize bullets. I think it was a bullet company and may have been Berger.

I haven’t yet worked up a load for mine. I hope to to get a good load this summer.

We’ve pondered this at work. I guess technically you could take some Red Loctite, cover the brake’s threads in it, and crank it in tight. Voila, it’s now direct thread

One thing I wondered too, not that it’s likely, but what if the cherry bomb comes off when you take the TP off and is stuck inside. There is no way of putting a wrench on the CB is there? Not sure if that evens happens, haven’t delt with suppressors much.

Won’t happen, trust me. If you have a tapered shoulder, you don’t even need to put loctite. You can tighten it on, then crank it down with a 1” socket. It ain’t coming off unless you take a socket to it, trust me.

If you have a 90deg shoulder, you can use some blue loctite and it won’t move.
