Why do you think that out of curiosity?
They will start moving twice the volume. Also, being able to sell direct to your doorstep cuts out a lot of middlemen. Then you will have more manufacturers popping up so prices will naturally get lower to be competitive.
I doubt prices will drop a whole lot, but they will go down some.

Manufacturers know that people who are going through the trouble of applying and paying for the tax stamp likely will fork over more money for the cans.

Yea I guess this would help lower it. Something else I thought about....what about making them yourself. Will that be free and clear to do under this?

And when there is no hassle anymore people will be lined up yelling take my money so why drop the price. At least in the short term.
I can see after some time the prices dropping...with more companies making them and trying to under cut the next one. But at first I see them holding steady on the prices.

Silencers are not very complicated devices, tube, baffles, endcaps. If it were opened up the price would plummet. Silencers are expensive right now because of the materials used to make them "last a lifetime". Companies use these materials because you have to jump through so many hoops to get one and because of that you want it to last forever. There are also barriers to entry in the market which allow for better margins that typical firearms. If the HPA passes I would bet only one current silencer company survives as rapid consolidation happens to keep up with the drastic drop in price as new startups pop up offering cans for sub $50 (there is currently at least one company selling $100 silencers already). Materials used will switch over to all aluminum (except for full auto rated) and silencers would be viewed as "disposable" accessories. Good for several thousands rounds then replaced. Removing the Form 3 and Form 4 process would allow online vendors to sell at $5 over cost (like they do firearms now) since everyone would be able to sell them, not just those who pay their yearly SOT. Demand would skyrocket fueling these new startups with cheap silencers as those who previously did not want to wait 6+ months or pay $200 enter the market. The current company that does survive as "the source for premium silencers" halves their current MSRP. Dealers stuck with inventory unable to move it before the HPA passes may go under as the market will no longer support anywhere near their cost on the inventory. That's my prediction.
At first this is probably true and hopefully dealers can unload their inventory here possibly at a premium. But there will be companies with lathes and extrusions waiting for it to go into effect, so prices will likely drop pretty soon after as the new cheaper products come out pretty quickly.

That would be so awesome. What is even better is the refund from the Tax stamps purchased after Oct. 2015.
Doubt this part would pass but, it would definitely be nice. I'd receive about $1200 in refunds which I could put towards something else.
Also, for anyone still waiting on tax stamps, I had four that were sent off around 3rd week in March. First two were approved 3rd week in October and received around Halloween. The last two were approved on Nov. 5 so I am hoping to see them no later than Wednesday of next week. So anyone sending off in late March should start seeing them arrive.

The way the bill is currently worded, anyone who paid for a tax stamp after October 15, 2015 would receive a refund.
I seriously doubt that, but getting the $$$ back would be enough for me to get that AK I have had my eye on

Should i stay away from this ammo? I am looking to split a case with a buddy. This would just be for a little fun shooting. Thoughts?

This. For cheap steel I do keep some Brown Bear around but I mostly shoot brass Wolf Gold or now Perfecta from Wal Mart.

I just cant bring myself to run steel ammo. All my experiences with Wolf or TULA have been meh at best. Several FTF and dirty.
I stick to bulk Federal or PMC for plinking ammo now.

I only run steel in my AK.
Look at the bright side, steel helps you run malfunction drills

Now I have run around 500 rounds of that newish Winchester steel 9mm through my scorpion and Sig (Before Chat stole it). Not a single hiccup.

I never had an issue with steel case in my AR. But monarch brass from academy was terrible in my gun. Jammed like crazy. Did the same in my M1 garand too

I bought some Monarch 243 to give myself something cheap to shoot out of my bolt gun at the range. Bolt didn't want to close on the case. Lots of reviews stating the same problem. Their brass 243 is PPU. I've read several QA horror stories come out of the PPU factory recently.
