Got the Aimpoint Pro on opticsplanet.com for $400 shipped. Think I'm going to do that.

Stupid question. It says print 2copies. When you print off the form 1 it prints out as a duplicate. So is that good or do I need to fill out 4 sheets of paper? Or just the double that prints out?
This is a headache.

You just going ahead with the new requirements?
Sorry I'm not sure, when I checked my form 4 paperwork there were only two sets in there, not 4

What is everyone's favorite ammo for target shooting/practice?
Posted on 7/13/16 at 7:35 am to Mark Makers
I usually use PMC or Remington 55 grain. Usually go to the store couple days before and buy a couple boxes of whatever they have thats good for my shooting session so I dot have to pull from my stash.

Talk to me about gas systems.
Pros and cons of carbine/mid-length/rifle? Can you get a rifle length gas system for a 16" barrel?
Thanks in advance.

Pros and cons of carbine/mid-length/rifle
16" barrel = mid
14.5" barrel = mid or carbine
10.3"-12.5" barrel = carbine
Anything under 10.3 = SBR
As for technical specifics of each, maybe Carson or someone else can chime in here. Some say a carbine cycles better than the others while the mids will shoot better. Ive only really shot mids so I cant say other than what Ive read other say.

Carbine length gas in a 16" barrel is normally over gassed.
Pros: Over gassed you almost never have to worry about under powered steel cased ammo functioning in your rifle even if extremly dirty. Very reliable cycling.
Cons: You get more recoil impulse. Increased parts wear. Higher chamber pressure when the bolt unlocks.
Mid length in 16"
Pros: Lower chamber pressure when the bolt unlocks. Less wear in the components. Lower recoil impulse. Honestly I don't "feel" much of a difference but I can see the difference in the amount of muzzle flip I get. Longer sight radius when using a A2 front sight gas block. Longer rail and more rail space for more options in hand placement and configuration. Bayonet is in the correct spot on a 16" rifle. Some people say Midlength is cleaner running than a carbine but if that is noticeable beyond theory I can't tell.
Cons: Might be a little more front heavy with an A2 FSB since that nice hunk of metal is further out and the requirement for a longer hand guard. Possibly a little heavier. For me I like a 13" free float rail and I hold the rifle towards the front end of the hand guard which puts my hand right under the hot gas block on a mid length. With my carbine with the same hand guard my hand is forward of the gas block and is more comfortable because it's not as hot.

I think in the silencer shop video is said to not put multi cal.
I read that recommendation and used 5.56 on mine instead of multi. It was disapproved, but not for that reason.

No, this was on my F1 that got disapproved last Friday, was able to resend it and another one on Saturday and have not heard anything back yet.

Was told by couple people to put the actual caliber you will be using. Tho it does not matter if you switch from 556/223
to 300 later after stamp is approved, but that "multi" is not an accepted answer.

Pretty much got my build figured out, just down to figuring out the barrel. Going with 5.56 and 16" and mid length gas system. I figure for this first build I'm going with a fixed front sight, if I decide to add optics later i'll just change out the gas block.
Was looking at a couple PSA barrels, but other than the twist rate I'm not sure with other options on barrels. What is the OB's opinions?

I'd go with a low gas block from the beginning. You're gonna want a free floating handguard before long.

most likely going to put a magpul drop in to start. Not currently planning on adding too much to the front except maybe an angled foregrip
