My finished product. Now I'm scared to shoot it.

Wow, That thing looks awesome! You need to set that up on the mantle for a day or two before you shoot it.

Wow, lots of debate
My use will be for fun, no real intended use. From reading all that I think I will probably go with 5.56. If I had a use that warranted the 300blk I'd do that, but I just want something to play around with and due to ammo cost the 5.56 makes more sense.

Took you long enough to torque the barrel

Does anyone have any pictures of their FDE AR? I'm curious I've found a reasonably priced complete build from Aero Precision that's Cerakoted FDE.

It's an aero upper and mag tactical lower. Best pic I have.
Posted on 1/17/16 at 4:48 pm to DownSouthDave
From what I read Aero has quality products do you agree?
Posted on 1/17/16 at 5:12 pm to OleWarSkuleAlum
I just have an upper from them. Don't know much else from them.

Has anyone ever heard of the 7mm Raptor? I'm at work and keep getting blocked from going to most of the weapons sites.
Apparently it's a 7mm round that can be fired from an AR-15 platform with just a barrel change. The one post I read from the developer said it was being made to hunt deer and hogs with, but he stopped posting in June of 2015. LINK

Yup. If you look through some of my post history, I have given this cartridge praise for a few months now. If you reload, it will be a game changer.

Hey, do you guys know if they make quick release rails similar to the eotech hybrid sight? Preferably the one for the magnifier. Do people make those separate?

So, it's available for purchase now? Through raptor7.com?
ETA: Nevermind, just read your post that it's going to be available soon. Thanks.

Yeah. They won't sell ammo though. Only dies and barrels. You could get some other companies to build you a barrel when the cartridge starts getting enough traction to where chambering in 7 Raptor is profitable.

You shoot that Mod 1? How would you compare it to the A2?

Which rail system is everyone using these days, Keymod, M-LOK, or standard Picatinny?
Posted on 1/19/16 at 11:08 am to OleWarSkuleAlum
Keymod and MLOK. I have one of each. MLOK is nice in that it doesn't have the directional component that Keymod has

I use keymod. MLOK is convenient because of no need for directional as Carson mentioned. Also, Kinetic development group makes some of the coolest MLOK attachment systems called their kinect (sidelok is the optic attachments).

Aero makes great stuff.

Those Seekins rails are fat and heavy, especially in the 15" flavor. The only reason I would get a Seekins rail is if I needed to run a suppressor underneath it. Otherwise, I prefer a lighter slimmer profile KeyMod or M-LOK. Hand guards are really a personal preference though, so you may love the Seekins ones.
EDIT: As for the deal, I would say $975 is a little high for a Ballistic Advantage barrel, Seekins rail, STR stock and milspec parts/receivers/bcg. Minus 10% is probably fair though.
