What do you mean? I'm kind of in the middle of a debate with a friend who says dry graphite is a great lubricant for anything. The tube even said "great for guns", but I think that's just related to typical hunting bolt action rifles since that the main firearm any American owns. I don't think they take into account an aluminum AR-15.

Why would you add more carbon, graphite, after you clean your gun to remove carbon build up from shooting? Stick to CLP and save the graphite for your pinewood derby axles.

I have had magpul plastic handguards on my BCM middy since I bought it and I think I'm gonna splurge for a rail.
I've never done a free float install myself, is it all that difficult?
I know that I will need to replace the gas block/front site post.
TIA

Its not hard, but it takes some know how and depending on which rail some special tools make it easier.

Anyone ever here of Independence Arms? I googled and didn't come up with much. I was considering this upper.

Finally had a chance to shoot my build today. I was getting ftfs constantly. I put the jp yellow spring kit in and people complained of cheap ammo not igniting and I thought that was the deal with the perfects ammo I was shooting. It would fire 1 then get 2 ftfs. So then I tried some Barnes tsx I had bought for hunting and the same thing. I was totally bummed. Ended up breaking the whole thing all the way down and cleaned and lubed it real good and got it all back together and still was having the same thing.
Finally I took my entire lower apart again (2nd time) and put it back together. I realized that when I switched the milspec springs for the yellow springs I put the damn hammer spring on backwards. Finally got it all striaghted up and got her hitting 1 1/4 3 shot groups at just over 100 yards. Was so frustrated at first bc I built the entire thing lower and upper myself (my first build) and couldn't figure out what i did wrong.

Western Sport had some complete Daniel Defense uppers for that price range that had very similar rails and different barrel lengths. I picked up the carbine version, it's already assembled with a PSA lower.

Install is not hard. Get a lo profile gas block. As far as rails go, I like the BCM KMR, Noveske NSR, and all of the Geissele rails (Geissele is MLOK over Keymod). Also, Geissele gives you a gas block when you buy a rail from them ($60 saved).

Holy crap, you're paying $80 for a lo-pro gas block?
Posted on 1/1/16 at 10:50 pm to Propagandalf
My bad, Geissele Super gas black that comes with the rail is $60, not $80. They do sell a nitrided one for $70 though. And no, I have never paid $80 for a gas block. I know people who have paid the $115 for the SLR ones though.

Instead of replacing it just cut off the front sight post. People do it all the time. Hit it with a file and smooth it it after knocking off the front sight post with a cutoff blade. Grill paint to cover it. Done.

Both free float rails on my two rifle with them have their own barrel nut for the rail.
So the gas block has to come off.
You will need a torque wrench and a barrel tool.

I'm in same boat...front post on MP15 Sport is interfering with my night vision. I want to also gain rail space for front grip and illuminator. Will this model work for my setup?

I guess with it being a 1:9 ratio, you actually mean it sucks? I sensed sarcasm.
