If you have enough to drop on a gun I'd get either that Daniel Defense or BCM rifle that were poster earlier.
If you just want to gradually buy the parts and put it together, I wouldn't get the blemished uppers/lower. Prices are starting to come back down and they really arent worth it IMO.

You guys know where I can buy a complete lower from one of the better brands out there? I've a custom 24 inch bull barrel with a quad rail on my first AR but I went cheap and bought a DPMS lower. I wanna upgrade the lower to a Noveske, DD, etc.

There is so much info out there. My lower went together very well. Unlike what I usually do, I didn't jump into this blind.
I went blemished because of availability not price. I was set on BCM and the reviews on blemished were pretty positive. Some people were getting uppers that looked brand new.

about to order the BCM bcg from Ranier. What charging handle should I go with? I see BCM Gunfighter but in sizes like small med large?

All about personal preference there man. I have a medium just so its not as bulky and I can still charge it one handed.

I am thinking about eiter OD green or the dark earth color. Black is cool and proven as a solid choice, but I think I may mix it up a bit. Dark earth on black looks good.

Yeah, i've done a few without the tools and a few with. Definitely easier and less likely to scratch up something with that list of tools. I would say you absolutely need the action blocks and armorer's wrench to assemble an upper. A lower can be pretty easily done with basically just a set of channel locks, but I still prefer using the punches and cise block. I love tools and am always looking for an excuse to buy more, so I went ahead and got everything. Roll pin holders are worth their weight in gold imo
