What Hash said.

It has to be a min of 16". You have a 14.5" barrel and a 1.5" compensator. Normally they are screwed on but since your barrel is short, it has to be welded on to make it permanent.

Its changeable but not easy.

I'd just buy a new barrel if I wanted something new. I'll see how this one treats me

If youre getting good accuracy out of this one you wont need to. Its probably $100 to swap the compensator and $100 or so for whatever compensator you want.

Cool pics.

Just built both my Seekins lowers last night with my PSA kits.

Was my first builds and now I'm hooked for sure. First one I wasn't too sure and was slow, took an hour. The second build went maybe 20 minutes.

There for the Colorado airlift that's why the apaches are sitting there.

I would have been fine with the brown truck delivering it but an apache makes up for the wait.

Alright guys, got my lower built and now need to start looking for a upper. I want a low profile type gas block, should I look for an upper with that already installed or grab a good deal and have it changed out locally?

Also what are some pros/cons to a 16" barrel vs 14.5" (14.7") with pinned flash suppressor?

I'll hang up and listen

If I were getting a carbine I'd go the 14.5" route.

For mid length go with the 16".

But honestly you should just pick which one you think looks better. I doubt you would be able to see a difference in performance.

And if you plan on ever changing your flash hider/compensator then definitely go with the 16"

As far as the gas block goes, if you can't find an upper that already has a low profile one, they only cost like $30 and they aren't too hard to swap out.

Unless you want a replica M4, go for the 16".

If you want a shorter barrel, just build a SBR.

You wont notice the difference between the 14.5" and the 16". That is both in length, weight, performance, and looks. I suggest getting the 16" for the simple fact that you can swap out the flash hinder if you want (and you might, MIGHT get 50 more FPS).

I buy all of my uppers complete. I dont worry about building those mainly because they have always been easy to find exactly what I wanted. Now, with this climate, I may have to start piecing some together. Changing out a gas block is easy as pie. Dont let that make the decision for you.

I ask another question which may make me seem like a total jerk... What is the difference between a 16" carbine and 16" mid length. I've done the google search but would like the ob's answer

Mid vs carbine refers to the length of the gas system, not the rails. You can put a carbine rail on a mid gas system and vise versa.

Middys are supposed to be more reliable for 16" barrels but I have not heard of any problems with guys running a carbine on a 16".

I have had a mixture of both and couldn't tell a single difference. I currently have a middy with a 16" barrel.

Awesome. I took a risk and placed an order in hopes I would get a good response.

I'll have to tell Uncle Jack that I won't need one of his BCGs now so he is free to make some moola off of it
