According to THT, they got the boat in the water and gone fishing.

Well, obviously not the best design idea then.

I'm going to go with they're probably from the Baton Rouge/225 area code...
Just a wild guess

Looks to me like they weren't using the right hitch to pull that boat. And they even drilled an extra hole to make it work.

those hitches come like that with 2 holes in them and aren't rated for the kind of weight he was hauling. it was just a matter of time before it snapped in half like that.

why anyone would be stupid enough to haul an expensive boat like that with a rinky dink under rated hitch is just plain stupid and he is just lucky he didn't kill somebody doing it

That safety chain looks like swing set chain is one thing.

I wonder if the driver came up on that 90 fast and this is a result of some oh shite braking and turning.

Update.
So apparently they went fishing and found out they had a fuel leak.

Of course they did...

People like this make it a liability for everyone else to be on the water.

Scenario:
My boats taking a snooze on the asphalt, probably no damage done. Lets then put said boat in the water, no need to have it checked out for serious damage. Lets get offshore and get them Tuners baw, heard they're chewing good.

That's the brake chain baw.

And I am not surprised they had issues. Pretty dumb to put that boat on the water after that

Dude is towing a 34' contender with a Class III hitch adapter set in a class V hitch. That's bound to fail eventually with that much tongue weight combined with that much total load weight.

Not sure if ole dude was just lazy for not swapping out the hitch or ignorant. Let this be a lesson fellas -- if you're towing 10,000+ pounds -- don't use an insert.

ol boy with tat thought it was a good idea to crack open a beer while testing a boat that just fell off the trailer. Just a chain of awesome decisions with this group.

Dip shits like this deserve to sit on the side of the road or float at sea when their shite breaks.
If they don't take any precaution why should anyone else waste their time trying to help them?
