I swear no one from the OB can fish out of anything smaller than a 22' boat...
meanwhile I roll up back to the launch with 4 people in a 17 foot aluminum boat with a 4 man limit of fish
ya'll probably use those $8 corks too

Boat is in Laffy, bring yo sack of money and we can sea trial in and i will even give you the vermilion to lose in.
Loaded, meaning; ice, fuel, 4 men & gear it might see 30 down wind with current. These ads are all the same; T-Top, underpowered, 5"gps & 15-20 hours on the clock that include an spare aluminum prop.

Well I never thought my original post would be worthy of 3 pages of responses, however I've learned quite a bit from all of the responses and differing opinions. Thanks to everyone who contributed.

BTW..I went to see the NS...it was immaculate...essentially a new boat. Difficult decision but I passed on it. The T Top was the deal killer for me. It seemed the top would limit the ability to fish more than 2 people comfortably and someone brought up the possibility of additional drag. Therefore, I will continue my search!

A T top on an 18' boat will definitely get in the way. You need IMO at least 22' of boat to have a T top and still fish like you want.

I have a 90 2-Stroke with a jack plate, on a lighter boat with no T-Top and I can get it to 42 on a good day. That boat will be a slug, guaranteed..... I know boats.

Any boat that will be equipped with a 4 stroke engine, I'd make sure it has the maximum horsepower allowed. 4 strokes do not have the torque of 2 strokes. Be sure to ride in whatever you buy before buying it. Make sure it has a deep V all the way to the back. Lots of boats have a flattened deadrise which will contribute to a harsh ride on rough water. Sea Pro makes a nice bay boat for a reasonable price.

Mine is the 1910 Nauticstar with a 115hp. It is definitely underpowered, but its what I could afford. I absolutely love my boat though. It is very well built, rides pretty good, and it goes everywhere I need it to. It cruises at about 36 with 13” x 19 pitch 3 blade prop. Wot is about 42. With my 13 1/4” x 17 pitch 3 blade prop it cruises at about 33 with wot at about 38. It is by no means fast, but it gets the job done

Your boat will bring a higher resale when it's time to move up than the 18'that's under powered. Good on ya for not becoming a slave to a boat note.

Really just have to make sure it’s propped right and the weight is distributed correctly and it runs great. 2 things that don’t bother me at all. It has been to the last islands and enstar rigs out of Dularge and just went 50 miles around Big lake a couple of week ago. Also goes in almost all of the freshwater around cenla. It’s the perfect boat for what I need.

We just repowered my old man's boat with a 115 and we were thrilled to get the cruise up to 32mph coming from the 90 we had.

All about perspective. That 90 probably had 1500 hours on it of cruising around at 27ish
