odd coincidence that it's still hot as shite and there are very few teal this late into the month

I agree completely. Especially since this is the first year they're allowing 6/person due to the overall high numbers of teal (obviously not in LA). I hope it is just due to the steady weather pattern (hot, and dry) over the past several weeks not motivating the teal to leave whatever water and food sources they found when they initially started their migration.

Another thing. I usually have 20 hummingbirds fighting over my feeders and Turk's cap by now. I may have three.

That's odd. I know nothing about hummingbirds. Do they migrate around this time?

My dad in BR has had plenty on his feeder all summer and through now.

That's awesome. Recs on a good feeder? I would love to have some flitting through my backyard.

Really doesn't matter. Cheap ones are good. Avoid the kind with a curved tube as the supply to the bird. Those empty themselves. Whatever they have at Tractor Supply/Sutherlands/The WalMarks/ etc.

And don't pay for hummingbird water.

Mix like a cup of sugar and a quart of boiling water with a couple drops of red food coloring.

How did this teal hunting thread turn into a bunch of old women talking about hummingbird feeders?

This

Why don't we discuss how to attract teal instead of how to attract humming birds. Yall using mojo's? If so, how many?

I hear you. You have to really hate them to hunt that gar hole but damn that place produces.

The Hummingbird mojo is in beta stage. Won't release for another season.

Mojo's for big ducks = sometimes
Mojo's for teal = always

We'll probably have 3 or 4 out. You don't even need decoys most of the time, though I'm sure we'll over do it and have a bunch out.

Teal hunting for me has always been exactly like dove hunting, just over quicker.
